  1. Yeah, just should I have bet the River. No reads on the other player as he recently just sat down. Opinions are always appreciated.

  2. Don't limp with AK preflop, raise on the flop, and yes bet the river.
  3. Thansk for the advice Metal I always enjoy your posts.

Yes, I almost always raise with AKs though I did want two-three people in the hand with me. I was lucky this hand didn't end worse than it did though. I am wondering why you bet the river and why you raise the flop?
First on the flop, I have TPTK and the nut flush draw with a guy OOP betting into me. Don't I want to milk him and not chase the other players out?
On the river, he calls my re raise on the turn and that was a big reason that I check behind on the river. I just had TPTK and was worried he might of flopped a set or two pair.

  4. I honestly don't think that he would check a set on the river...question there is does he really want to risk you checking behind him when he has a big hand such as a set? Different answers for different players I guess.

The reason I'd raise on the flop is to attempt to build a pot, but I can certainly understand just calling since you don't him to fold there either. Depends on your read on this guy IMO. If he has a lower flush draw, he would probably ride it to the end. Top pair lower kicker would probably stay in til the river as well and in the lower levels, top pair is the nuts to most players. I'm certainly not a big time player either...I never play higher than 1/2 for the most part.

I can definitely see where you're coming from when he just calls the turn. I'd be more concerned if he was to lead out with a river bet than if he checks.

Like any other hand, I think this could be played differently against different players...some you might want to call the flop, others you may want to raise. Just make decisions based on some of their previous actions if you can.
  5. You played this hand way too passively. You do not want 2-3 players in the hand. AK is a hand that plays much better heads up. It is not a good multiway hand. It is a top pair top kicker type hand that you want to get value against one player or else take it down with a continuation bet on the flop.

You must bet this river. People hardly ever check 2 pair or better hands on river when 1st to act, because they don't want to lose value. Your pair of kings with ace kicker is ahead 99% of the time when checked to on this river. You must get value with your AK on a board like this on the river.

As a side note, calling the flop and raising the turn is really a bad line here. It is a classic case of being tricky for the sake of being tricky and you're really just getting yourself in trouble with it. Most poker should be played in a very straightforward manner and let it take care of itself. You don't know what the other guy has. Raise the flop and see if he comes along. Don't get tricky because you think he doesn't have much. Build the pot so in case he does have something you win a lot of money. Raise this flop, get as much money into this pot as you can at all times.
