At the beginning of the year this was my goal. I set a goal of 3k vpp per day and for the 1st month I was pretty much gettin there everyday. I then got lazy/bored with it. I have recently started talkin to a few ppl who are working towards it and I know ill be pissed at myself if I dont end up getting it since its basically a free $25-$28k or w/e...I currently have 115K vpp and I know ill have to bust my ass to get to a mill...so should i even go for it?
-
yes
do it for all of us perpetual silver stars that can only dream of joining such an elite small group. would be cool and quite an accomplishment.
monthly updates would be cool too -
Yes do it...
GG sanity -
Well I'll play devil's advocate and say don't do it, Ship! I think if you have to 'bust yr ass' to get it, ie play a bejillion hours every week, it'll feel like work and yr gonna just end up hating poker and never wanting to log onto stars ever again, which would be a shame. I know the freebies are great, but u could prob sat into those tourneys anyway. GL either way.
-
what are you playing to get there?
-
My first thought when I read this was gg year, but then I thought...
You would not only get the free tournament entries, but also a millionVPPs at supernova gets you 5 million FPPs which is enough to get you anAston Martin Vantage (or who knows what you can get with 5 million FPPswith the concierge service).
gg year, hello car?
gl -
I would be playing around 100-120 $55 turbos a day for the next few months then play around 100-120 total with a combo between $55s and $105s. You also have to factor in the fpps that i would earn (almost enuff for the aston martin) and the bonus's u get along the way by reached certain vpp milestons (200k,300k,400k,500k,700k i think) thats another free 20k or so. Just a matter of owning up and saying GG life for awhile lol
-
it's worth it but i would bet a lot against you doing it just playing the 55's. espec cause you only have 115vpps at this point
-
A curious question......
What is your ROI in the $55+5 turbos?? -
So a decent job would be around 45k a year and it looks like you will make more than that to me. I dont see the problem treat it as a tough fun job 50 hours a week. Not including how much money you will make Im guess youll clear over 100k in profits just form playing plus the bonuses not a bad deal.
WHen you reach 1mill vpps youll at about 3mill fpps so just enough for the porsche. GG 30% tax on that bitch though. -
Well my ROI on s/s is 5%. Not all of the games tracked were played by me for what its worth. I jus tracked my last 300 $55 turbos and my ROI was 12.2%. I think from here on out a 9-11% roi is attainable
-
Sounds like alot of $ even more when you include all the bonuses etc.....Do it...
You should make enough to hire an assistant. A good looking female assistant. A well qualified candidate for the job would bring you food, be capable of minding the games for a few minutes when you get distracted, and do a victory dance each time you took one down. -
hmm i like the assistant idea, very nice
u gotta go all out if you decide to attempt supernova elite. You'll be absolutely crushed if you come up just short at the end of the year. Just have a system in place where u set reachable goals each month and stick with it. And if you're sick, running bad, etc. have a friend play on your account for a couple days to keep up the pace. (or your hot new assistant who can watch and get good at poker) -
GL.....keep us informed
-
People bust their ass 9-5 for 20 years, if you really want to do it and it'll pay off the why not bust your ass for a year.
-
ya it jus sucks that i stopped after a month n wasted all this time before trying to go for it again. hopefully i can find somethin to keep me motivated besides thinking about perks.
-
how about u think about a Porsche, a couple flat screens and the free tournament entries
make it more specific than just saying 'perks' obv -
yeah, its really hard to keep motivated multi-tabling the turbo 55s, i think many people on this site could do it with success, but it gets very boring and you are constantly tempted to play mtt's. you def. need some goal setting to do these or just have to be a certain type of person that might have no problem staying focused. if i could get a job where all i could do is play these i could make a ton of money but its so hard to stay on track when you're on you're own. if anyone has any ideas on ways to do this clue me in.
-
if you can do it go for it, however as much as i love to play poker i like to go outside and enjoy life especially since i live in san diego. If you can mix in some sun and women go for it.
-
I wonder if I could get in more sngs playing sessions of 12-15 with 10 min breaks in between or constantly playing 8 at all times.
-
10min break will keep you sane.

From pokerstars website
To earn the rank of a Supernova VIP you must accumulate 100,000 VIP Player Points (VPPs1) during the calendar year (January 1st through December 31st). Once you have earned the required VPPs you're a Supernova through at least the end of February of the following year. In addition, we will extend your status on a month-by-month basis from January through the end of June, provided you continue to earn at least 10,000 VPPs every month, missing no more than one month of 10,000 VPP accrual.
You say you play 8 at a time ship , what do you do if you go out early? Do you start another right away or do you wait till all 8 are finished? -
damn, you're going to have to play about 145 $55s a day for the rest of the year. If your skill/bankroll allow it Id try to play half $55's and half $109s I dont know if 145 sngs everyday is possible. id imagine around the summer if you run anywhere close to 10% ROI playing 145 a day youd be set to start mixing in some $215s too. If you can get to the points where you are getting in about ever $215 that runs and playing the rest as $109s and a few $55s I think you could do it. Im just assuming you have a large enough bankroll that the money isnt really issue and after you turn a nice profit just start playing larger buy ins off of that.
-
Yeah im def. gonna have to move up limits within the next few months to help get there, no question.
-
That will be an amazing achievement...best of luck, let us know how you are doing every so often.
-
Ship, just curious, how many hrs. a day is this? And, are you talking 7 days a week?
