didn't think he had an ace cause he didn't lead out. when he called the turn thought, he had QJ or something and just checked so he would bet a busted draw or in case he hit a straight. felt like i missed a chance to stack him, am i being too results oriented or what?
  2. I'm with you, you can't put him on much of an ace here. So, let's look here, you checked the flop, good move. You lead out hitting 2 pair, I like that, he flat calls you.

He might have an ace here, but likely not a strong ace. He might have hit 2 pair or better, and with an ace, that beats you. He might have hit a straight, might have a busted draw also.

Busted draws fold to a raise. Straight or 2 pair beats you. Small ace might pay you off of a raise, big ace will pay you off.

You said yourself you couldn't put him on an ace, and I agree with you here. With those out, there is no reason to do anything on the river other than what you did. By check/calling, you are getting the max out of him on the hands that you are beating, and you are limiting your losses on the hands you are losing too.

When someone completely misplays their hand, you won't get as much out of them as you could have, but look, he should (for all intensive purposes) have beat you. He raises pre, you fold. He bets a good bet on the flop, you fold. He let you win this hand, so his bad play won you this pot. So, I don't think you can stress about how much you got too much, since it was all a gift.

Though, do make a note how he plays big hands, so if you get this way with him again, you definitely raise this hand, since you have a read.
  3. lol at the pre flop limp with AQ, he played it pretty bad and i think you got good value out of him. Take the nice pot and make a player note on him.
  4. A perfect example of how bad play leads to a bigger chip stack for you. No, you shouldn't raise, you have no idea what this donk has. Calling is the correct play.
  5. I like your play. Definately no reraise on the river. The only thing i can see is that you probably should have value bet the river instead of trying to induce the bluff. Maybe come out and bet like 3,000 on the river. But the check/call worked fine too.

*Also make a note on this guy that he likes to set traps.
  6. if he leads the river and gets re-raised what's he going to do? Probably fold the best hand...do what you did, by checking you lose the least when you're beat and get a bet you wouldn't have if your opponent bluffs...there are few hands you're beating that you'll get to call a bet
  7. I agree if he goes over the top you have to fold. But checking is generally a reverse freeroll. If villain bets out are going to call with your 2 pair, especially since u checked to induce a bluff. So you will mostly let him check behind u with the worst hand or bet and get called with the best hand (unless he is a total donk like this guy and he bets his A here, but this is a rare scenario), so its a lose lose for you. If you bet out you will get called by a number of worse hands and only reraised with hands that you can be sure beat you, so u can usually fold easily.

*This concept of reverse freerolls is talked about in The Theory of Poker among many others
