  1. I asked in a thread about which casino was the best for 1/2 no limit. Some people said Borgata had bad players and so did Foxwoods. I was deciding between tropicana, Taj and Showboat and ended up going to Showboat today. I could have taken the jitter bus to Borgata but just decided to play 3-4 hours at Showboat and not waste any time taking the bus.

I dont know abuot you guys but when i played at the showboat from 1230-230pm of 1-2 no limit, there were only 2 tables. Most of the players at the table were at least average. I did not even notice one fish at the table that did any bad plays. I only won 1 hand only and was down about 120 for the 2 hours of play or so b/c i wasnt catching any hands.

Have any of you players played at showboat 1-2 no limit and can give your opinion on what you thought about the game there? Maybe i was there at a bad time since it was during the day and there were only 2 tables, but 1-2 no limit there was not SOFT at all. It played a bit better than 50NL on full tilt poker. I hear people say 1-2 no limit at casino is like 0.05/0.10 no limit on Bodog but it is NO WHERE near that in what i saw today

I did not see anyone calling a big all in with bottom pair. There was even one player who folded A10 diamonds to someones all in when the board was like 2 diamonds and a heart because he thought the other guy had AA. I thought A10 diamonds would be an instant call with the nut flush draw at 1-2 no limit in the casinos. I was also playing a hand where i got C/r on the turn all in and i had a low pair and the guy who i was playing against was pretty solid and i was like 99.999 percent sure i was behind because i know the way he played and just knew i couldnt beat his hand.

Is showboat like the toughest poker casino in AC because this is sort of harder than 50NL on full tilt poker and you guys know how tight the players at full tilt at 50-200NL are... to the low limit grinders. The next time i go, i will go to Borgata since people say theres like 8 tables full of fish at 1-2 no limit. But now I am getting worried that Borgota might be like this too. When i saw 2 tables when i came to the pokerroom, i knew this wasn't easy like what people say it was.

Any insight would be great. Thanks.
  2. I dn about what happened with you but a bunch of p5ers went there on Memorial day to play the nightly 100 and played cash before hand. All of us were up, and Netfan44 took down the nightly.

Go during a holiday or any weekend (friday night is yummy). Otherwise it's going to be old grinders that got their free room for the week and are playing while their wives hit up pennyville.

  3. why on earth would you ask what casino was the best and then go to all the ones that weren't mentioned?
  4. Ive played in the tourneys there a ton of times. Those are beyond soft. Tourneys are so easy.

Ive only played the 1/2 tables a few time there, and they seem like everywhere else. You may have just gotten unlucky and all the people there were decent.

But all 1/2 games down there are pretty much the same. If you want to play with a bunch of fish, goto Ceasars on a saturday night. All the tables will be full and the play is absolutely horrible. Its not hard to make 300 in a hour if you get decent cards.
  5. Agreed. You should have gone to Borgata. At least there you have a choice to switch tables. If you get used to the 5x+ BB raises preflop, it's cake.
  6. I'll be playing at harrah's tomorrow (friend im going with gets room comped there). Never played there before but on a saturday I would expect plenty of donks...I play at caesars usually on go on weekends about every couple months...it's full of donks playing absolutely horrible. I would think during the day on a weekday would probably be the toughest time to play at any casino...more of the local grinders playing together at that time and less weekend donks...
  7. When I was off from school for a while, I went to ceasars pretty much everyday for a month.

There is a lot more grinders there then people think. We all pretty much knew who each other were and would just stay out of each others way.
  8. The bus i took got to Showboat only. I was going to take those jitter buses but i dont want to waste 30 minutes going back and forth. YES, the players there sort of talked like they knew each other when i was there so they must have been grinders. Their poker room was really small also. I was just shocked that there were no big pots in the 2 hours i was playing there unless both players had a monster.

And since there was only 2 tables going, i should have known everyone there was decent. Even when i saw some of the people's faces, they dont look like your regular donk. Guess i was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Also, the raises at the Showboat was pretty standard. Almost every preflop raise was 3.5-4.5 BBs. There were occasionally 3X bb raises but 5BBs was the max raise i saw. There was no donkey raising like raise to 2BB or 2.5BB that i witnessed.

  9. You should definitely go to Borgata next time, it's worth the 30 minutes. Or just grab a taxi, It's 9 dollars each way, and probably a lot faster. The play is generally soft, and the poker room is literally one of the best in the world. Also, FWIW, the Showboat poker room is not small at all, 25 or so tables is definitely at least average, if not on the large size.
  10. I went to AC a couple months ago, and the first place I went to play was Showboat. I got beat in their nightly tourney (set over set) with about 14 people left, so I went over to the cash games to get my buyin back. I ended up playing an 8 hour session, I was up over $1200 playing 1/2 NL. The cash games there are VERY soft IMO. As long as you play solid, and let them know you aren't from the area, it's cake. I, for example, am in the Army, and i'm living in Oklahoma. I knew that if I told the people that in normal conversation, they would think 'this guy is a fish.. who knows how to play poker from oklahoma?'.. and it worked to my advantage. I play cash games there for about 3 days, netting over $3k, and the last night I was there, I went to the Taj and played the Midnight Madness tournament. If you are there, it's worth trying. If you are an aggressive player, it will benefit you greatly. The blinds go up so quick, you need to build up your stack quick.. and if you do that, it's smooth sailing. I ended up taking down 2nd, as we did a percentage chop. I ended up making about $1k from that. Not a brag post, honestly, but just my 2 cents on the level of play in AC. Showboat is SOFT IMO.
  11. hmmm what day did you play? Was it during the day or night?

  12. When i first got there, i think it was like a thursday night.. I played the tourney that night at the Showboat, and then after that, played the rest of the night playing cash games until early in the morning. Went to sleep about 6 am, and slept til about 11, played all day friday, and through the night friday night again. The weekends seemed even softer bc of the vast amount of recreational vacationers. Hope this helps.. good luck!
