I think Waco was just suggesting that it is incorrect to open for 28% percent of your stack and fold preflop.
-
in general i agree with waco , but poker is situational , and it depends. u can probably prove that given some assumptions phatty's raise is +EV even he doesnt have any cards... i dont have time to do it now, but u probably could.
phatty imho understands poker as good as anyone, and while in general u shouldnt do it, if he believes the situation has positive expectation he did the right play. -
I realize he is a very good player(far better than I) however I believe he can accomplish what he was looking to accomplish with a smaller raise(this is basicall 6X). I am new to the game and looking to learn, but I just can't beleive this is a +EV play. IMO this is a mutualy exclusive situation. Either the open raise(amt) is bad or the fold is bad.
-
seems like a standard raise with AJ AQ TT etc and then an obvious fold to the action that went down
-
if the raise takes down the pot 60% of the time the play is +EV. It does well more than that imo. I raise less, the limpers start getting too good of a price to see a flop(over 2:1). The fold is pretty simple in that my stack still has re-raise fold equity if i fold, the cold call behind and then the original limper still pushing with all this action makes the fold trivial. the limp/pusher has aa/kk 98% of the time here and the cold caller is huge another high percentage of the time. even if i thought the call was +EV(which i dont) i could still argue this is a spot where u can pass up a slightly +ev play because of my stack size and the dynamics here.

I've only misclicked once, called some ridiciulous preflop overbet with Q-4 offsuit then I flopped bottom two pair. Unfortunately after that flop I was compelled to call his all-in and he flips over A-Q, top two pair (flop A-Q-4)
-
I can't read. Missed that there were 2 limpers. My bad.
-
AT offsuit doesnt lose.Ever.
