if the point of that raise is to set up the turn check (which I dont know if I can agree with) then you need to raise more than that to thin the field..all players are getting mad odds to draw on you with that small almost mini raise -
ive been playing these lower level tourneys (1 and 2 dollar) to practice "fighting " for pots through postflop play....i called the raise in position w/ K10 b/c ...though im nowhere near the results of the top players on here..my results show me far better than the average player in the micros at the first two levels...he made a weak cont. bet...the raise was to test him for genuine strength to keep me from wasting chips trying to bluff him off a really big hand...if i see a show of strength on the flop (that weak bet is sometimes a flopped set) i can fold..the original better has to worry bout the caller too...i didnt play on getting 2 calls but i know when i do that the flush draw is like 90 percent to be one of them...if i bet the turn that draw shoves ....as well as a slowplayed set or an ace....my read is they are weak but if i give the flush draw a chance to shove the turn i have to fold b/c of the other couple hands (monsters ) that might have played like that. I realize the first to act guy prolly folded best hand (pp?)...and if the flush draw doesnt bluff im probably gonna bet 500ish on the river to force him to fold...but i didnt think he could call behind my river call.
-
Also pariah...isnt that what i want calling ...draws.....but i want to keep the pot small so they dont just shove the draw....the hand bordered on playing K10 high for value ...not just a bluff.
-
One thing I don't understand.
You have nothing on the river. I can see calling it (not saying I agree with everything, but ok), but if it's checked to you, your going to bet 500 to force folds? What is the point of that. If you think your ahead K high, then you just check it down and take it.
If you bet big, what are you getting to fold? A slowplayed Queen is staying in. Is an ace folding? What are you hoping to get to fold that you wouldn't beat and wouldn't have been bet on.
Let alone, I don't fully agree with you here. I think an ace could have hung around and not bet out (hoping to trap you), when you check it, he puts you on a draw, and could have been begging for a call there. It was a good read, but I'm not sure the busted flush draw was all they cold have had. -
how'd you know his flush draw wasn't an A high flush draw??
and why would you check the turn to let him try and catch his flush...
this hand makes no sense -
In all my games of poker, I've never heard "the hand bordered on playing K10 high for value ...not just a bluff."
I know you want credit for making a call on the end as your read was right but I believe over time this is a -EV call especially if your table sees you do it once or twice.
What do you do if the J
comes on the river (filling your gut shot)? I know your opponent had it but I think it is a valid question. Would you get away from it or payoff the person you put on the flush draw?

"well i closed my eyes and said ICALL!! and when I opened my eyes i was ACTUALLY GOOD and i got so excited I ran STRAIGHT to pocketfives and posted that SHIT!!"

I would be getting the orignal raiser to lay down his 88ish hand.....im pretty sure he had a pp or AJ/AK...maybe KJ...anyo of which might play like this and would beat me at showdown if it gets checked....thats why id bet the end....i checked both players pokerdb (raiser before i called in position, sandwiched guy before i checked turn)...both weak results....weak players would generally jam when i gave them the opportunity by reraising the flop if they had a Q in their hand...the sandwiched guy cold called twice....thats a draw from a bad player in a low buyin most of the time....flush draw and every fishes favorite hand J10 . are possible draws....yes the Ace (AK or AJ....maybe Ax clubs...might check the turn hoping to checkraise me (or check call scared of the QQQs) ...but on the end i dont think a player that weak/bad woud value bet Ax (im going w/ my read once i make it and the only ace he can have is if he has the nut flush draw) ...hes gonna check and call if i bet not wanting to get raised all his chips....the way the hand played out i really think any big hand like a trip Q would have got it in on the flop (w/ these players) and i think also no way an ace bets the river like that (if he bet 100 or so to keep me from betting more unless i had the Q maybe but not 300ish) so i called fairly quickly...also figuring no way the origianl raiser has got to "know" his pp or AK is beat and cant overcall....there was no "closing my eyes" and praying here......btw GB2005 reason i put "please look" in the title is I watch u play when i get a chance (you busted me once in a 10rebuy 5 from the money or so....i raised AA and you tried to resteal from the BB w/ Q2....i smooth called to trap and u shoved the flop when u caught a Q...i called and u hit a 2 on the river...i thought "what a donkey" but looked up ur stats and saw u were a monster so i started watching you to try to learn a little) and lately uv posted a couple instances of monster calls so yeah i guess i was trying to impress a little. sorry if u felt it was a waste of time.

Well apparently not, nice ROI (-66%)

Edit: Oh ok it's better all time than in the last 4 months. -
I havent been 4 and 5 tabling 5 to 20 dollar MTTs in a few months...got married. when i was multitabling them i was doing good...i havent used the OPR very much usually just db them...and what i consider good stats when making a decision vs a player has to do w/ his % of Final Tables out of his total cashes and the number of 1sts out of those final tables....i think i had like 8 or 9 final tables out of 64 cashes last i checked and 4 of those final tables were wins. I play aggressive on the money bubble......put on pressure right before 2 tables (small money leap) and go apeshit w/ 11 and 12 left b/c everyone wants to fold to the final table....if i dont bust then i use the chips i stole to run over my Final table and almost invariably refuse to deal b/c that takes pressure off those "folding up the ladder". When someone has low or zero final tables out of their cashes i assume they are weak...also if they have a good # FTs like 10% of cashes but are getting a lot of 5ths and 6ths I assume they are weak also as that is indicative of folding up the ladder and getting whittled down in chips at the final table...so i apply more pressure on these players at bubbles......but players w/ all crappy cashes and no final tables gennerally overplay hands like tp or an overpair when u outflop them and lay down to quick w/ good aces that they raise (AK-AJ) and pps when they whiff the flop...they make a cont. bet and when u call they usually check fold the turn....

I addressed the why i asked GB2005 to look in an above reply. I had seen 2 posts by him in the last week of sick calls people had made ....thought this was similar albeit at a lower stake...I am a fan of watching him play mainly for his ablility to make monster reads/ calls/ and laydowns (like the not going broke w/ JJ to menlos AA....thats world class the thought process he used there and described in his article)....guess i was just wanting a "nice read " from a ranked player...sue me.

YOU HAVE NO FRIENDS

i am absolutely speechless.....
bluff raising a 4 handed pot with K high to set up a check on turn and hope no one has anything and then pray one of them is bluffing a busted flush on the river. you are sure hoping a lot of things go right. This is very unprofitable. -
ahahaha at how you made a call and were so excited you were right that you spent the entire next hand bragging/explaining your thought process to the table. well played sir.
