  1. This is a purely mathematical question. Nothing to do with stacksizes,payouts etc.

    -Blinds 0.5 / 1, I'm big blind. Heads-up.

    -Opponent in small blind puts me all in. He has Ah7h, I have 8c9c. What is the biggest stack I can have behind in order for me to make a mathematically correct call?

    I know A7s is a 55 to 45 favourite.

    Someone please explain the maths to me. No haters please.

  2. If they have a stack of 10bb it will leave you to call 9 to win 11 giving you 45% equity. If the hand is 45% to win then, excluding any rake, this is your break even point. Anything less is +EV for you and anything more is -EV.
  3. If you are sitting with 10$ this is a neutral ev call. Anything less is +EV anything more is -EV.

    To calculate this first assume you post your BB of $1 and have $X behind. villain has you covered. He shoves, so there is $2 in the pot (your BB plus his call of your BB) +$X (his shove). If you call the total pot would be 2+X+X

    So since you have 45% equity, to solve for how much you can have behind is

    .45 = X/ ( 2+ X + X) <--- pot odds calculation

    Solving you get X = 9

    So if you are sitting with 10$ total it is neutral ev to get it in as a 45% underdog. anything less is +EV, anything more is -EV
