First off calling the re raise pre is a meh play...I dont really think its that bad since they are very deep...its suited and can flop huge etc... Anyway when the flop comes down and the re raiser bets 800 into two people its a fold and here is why...IMO his re raising range here is QQ-AA maybe AK/JJ. Thats pretty much it this early/deepstacked. Hes not going to cont. bet this flop with AK or JJ most likely. That narrows his range to QQ-AA. Its kind of unlikely for him to have QQ since that would be the case two Queens and most playeres that dont kno any better would default check top set here. This leaves his range at KK and AA. Both of which has us completely shit on.
My friend turned his AQ into a complete bluff since his RR on the flop is never getting called by a worse hand...combine that with the fact that were crushed here 95%+ of the time makes this hand pretty attrocious. I explained all this to him and I think he understands for the most part what I was trying to get across to him. Anyway hope this helps some people. gl. -
i giggled that you put your friend in this because of all the dead money, then showed us this hh where he went broke 250 bbs deep with top top when it couldn't possibly be good
-
Looks pretty standard to me Ship.. Random players arent getting away from AQ on an Q high board like that. I was going to say unless he folds pre.. Which isnt that horrible but definatly nitty especially Deep Stacked.. After that the hand plays itself out.. Maybe you might be good enough to just fold right there on the flop. Which in that case why even bother calling pre if your just going to fold to one bet when you hit your flop pretty good correct?
-
I was pretty suprised when I went and looked at how he got knocked out I didnt think he was still going broke in spots like this...I definately think hes +EV vs this field maybe he was jus like fuck it im in for free Im just gonna go with it I dunno...wether hes +EV or not vs this field isnt the point of the post tho... but thx.
-
AQ is good here 5% of the time, really dont think this hand history is that complicated lol. Stacking off here was cute though.
-
you arent looking for just a Q or just an A calling pre. If u do u want to keep the pot small if possible and at least try to get chips from a bluff. When u force ppl to only be able to call with stuff that beats u, youll only get called by stuff that beats u. He wants a big combo draw, obv flopped str8, flush, 2p, trips. You flop jsut the Q ur asking for trouble. I did this before and ive realized that its just a fold preflop.
-
I wouldnt consider AQ hitting this flop "pretty good" IMO. This is a pretty dangerous board, as I already said AQ is rarely gonna be good here 3 handed.
-
Yeah this is nowhere near hitting the flop "good" in this situation. In fact this is the absolute worst you can flop in this spot.
-
i do think its good that ship is tryin to have a poker discussion. this hand is pretty meh but I give ship an A for effort. and i cant stand the dude.
-
Whats a good flop then and how often are you gonna get one of those good flops? (not a sarcastic question)
-
Your right im not going over groundbreaking strategy here but you cant deny that this is a spot that a tonnn of players go broke in.
-
a good flop obv is str8, flush, big combo pair and f-draw, trips (safer with the Q) and obv quads. Its not really toooo important the %ages for all these to happen. Its really about how deep stacked you are and if you think you have enough implied odds to get paid off if u land one of those "good flops". In this case he was pretty deep which is why the call is just meh.
-
Deep stacked I prefer to limp the AQ sooted and either fold to a raise or call if the raise if small enough. Unsuited I open fold here at this level. Better to keep the pot small and dump it at the first sign of trouble. At the very least you have to flop two pair or a very good draw to risk much here imo.
-
I dunno...I think im always bringing AQs for a raise...trying to build pots with hands that I can stack people with...AQs is definately one of these hands. As for calling the RR I dunno what % of the time I do that.
I wonder how PearlJammer would play these kind of hands in a deepstack since hes like open limping Jacks at 25/50 in the sunday mill -
I think the better question is what you should do with aa when you get raised is this spot. I think I would have folded, but its obv player dependent.
-
I prolly re raise to like 380/400 pre...lead flop for 800 or so...when I get raised I think you still good there wayyyyy more then 50% of the time vs the avg player in a $100 deep stack so I get it in as well.
-
you should stake me in this itd be +ev =) .
im not a fan of getting it in here in deepstacks whatsoever, i think he should just lay it down on flop when the preflop reraiser bets out. playing a 500bb pot with AQ on that flop in a multiway pot seems like a really big spew. hes really never good here, i doubt 0120 cbets AK here in a multiway pot. only hand i can see ur friend beating is JJ and hes not getting action from it if he raises anyway. -
this is a good thread Ship. More of this kind of stuff will get you much more respect than the other. Sorry bout my 2cent on the last one
-
Sweet stable Ship. Can I get a couple thousand pounds of glue?
-
try lookin at ur profile before making fun of the fact that i backed 1 of my friends in a random $100 donkament
-
Ship, A component of your decision is based on the board texture. So if that is the case, what would be your thoughts if the flop came of Q 4 2 rainbow. Also, what types of flops are you looking to see to continue in the hand....flopping a flush draw still gets your chips in bad, but if you can control pot size, you would have some good implied odds. Just curious your thoughts.
