  1. Do some people feel like they are wasting their time playing sit and goes when they say I just play cash games. I like to play cash games but every once in a while i go and play sit and goes and found out i just wasted 1.5 hrs playing sit and goes and said why did I do that. In a way, its sort of like the way PearlJam wrote his article on a life wasted well sort of.

Does anyone have this sort of problem?
  2. no

sngs are not a waste of time
  3. They have them in some casinos but the blind structure is horrible. Would you say sngs are the least valuable thing to learn then eventhough to you its not a waste of time?

  4. No, they are the quickest/easiest way to build a BR
  5. variance is a bitch, too many people know what they are doing in SNG's now and I find it hard to have a good ROI when your constantly getting hosed in every SNG. Well this is true for the mid level stakes at least.

  6. well let me say this. When i started out, i played the low limit sngs 5.50 and really didn't know much about it but this was 2 years ago maybe. Now when i play some 6.50 turbos on stars and full tilt, i am really shocked at the kind of competition there is. I mean when i started out 2 years ago, obviously the players were worst. When i had a big stack versus 4 other players around the 50/100 level i would fold because i didn't understand proper sng strategy. Even other players would fold pf when they had a huge stack. Pretty much nobody understood the big stack strategy. I mean some of the big stacks would raise 3x to steal the blinds in bubble time but rarely do i recall a big stack going all in for 30BBs which would be deemed correct during bubble tim.e

Now, the big stacks go all in usually near bubble time when its 4 or 5 players left. I am really shocked at how so many players understand bubble play even at the 6.50 turbo levels. I recalled there was a thread about someone saying how sngs at the 6.50 level are even harder than before and others agreed because of the government thing and i do agree with them. I can't believe at least 4-5 ppl at a table know that they can go all in with a big stack correctly because they know a shorter stack can't call without a premium hand and cant call even with a hand like AKsuited in certain situations.. They even say after they lose a hand to the caller how can u call with K10 and this is the type of player that knows sngs so their comment is really a smart comment.

They are definitely way harder than it was 2 years ago. Thats for sure.

  7. Shocking but i'll play $35 SNGs, there will be 4 players left. I'll have the big stack and shove every hand and get called w/ like A6 by 2nd. SO it really depends on the players i guess
  8. well if the 2nd stack calls with A6, you should be happy i guess since its not even close to right to call here. I don't really do ICM or those calculations but usually i use my best judgment to say if i can call or not but i can tell 2nd stack calling A6 is terrible because A6 is at best a 3:2 favorite.

  9. thank (errr...blame) sheets for this mess

  10. just curious. Who invented the idea of icm or the idea of you can't call here with AQ in the bubble here ?

  11. SNGs are still a viable way to make money and build a bankroll. Just have to know the strategies!
  12. ^^^^and for lessons on sit & go strategy check out.........

Perfect spot for an advertisement jennifear.
  13. They are definitely harder now but not a waste of time.

  14. Yes, they are harder now than they were before, but not by much. There will usually be one or two other decent players in each game, but there will also be one or two total donkeyfish doing inexplicable things that make your head hurt. The best way to adjust is to target those weak players and get their chips before the other good players do.

And no, SNGs are not a waste of time. Some people prefer cash game theory, some people prefer tourney theory. If you're among the latter, but dont want the time investment or variance of playing MTTs full time, SNGs are great. Theres plenty of money in them, if you have the game and put in the time. Look at the profit graphs for some of the players on various sharkscope leaderboards; those straight 45 degree angle lines are every poker players wet dream.
  15. YES SNGS ARE A WASTE OF TIME!
  16. sit and goes are a waste of time

    but sit and go's aren't
