So first of maybe i should have just folded this pre flop and not bothered getting involved? i was looking to get a cheap steal really, i wanted to avoid the big stack, therefore not to bigga pre raise so i could fold to his reraise, i would of called all other stacks in as at this point in the tourny they push pretty light.
i know its a marginal play? and guess i was just looking for those easy chips to extend the chip lead.
i seem to always get in these situations tho, and not sure if its a leak playing that hand from first to act.
    any help appreciated.
  2. really should be folding or jamming with your stack. I lean towards jamming.

  3. Everyone at the table is too short to be playing post-flop poker (which makes me think your opponents are pretty awful - this is a good thing!). But Killingbird is right...you should just be shoving or folding at this point. If you will have zero fold equity on later streets, why worry about later streets?

  4. ok thankyou, yes see your point excatly, sometimes i just get stuck in the middle with situations like these...
i dont want to put it all on the line with KQ just yet but then on the other hand i know there is a good chance that my hand may be the best hand so i want to find out, so many times push here and get called by AQ and AK and get annoyed at myself for not being more patient, but i see what you guys are saying, push or fold, if run into AK or AQ hardluck and move on?
think i leaning towards the push anyway now also, considering first place is what i am aiming for, dont want to nit fold to a second place.
    thanks guys

  5. Well, if you're playing single-table SNGs, nit-folding to 2nd place is better than an unnecessary gamble to try and win. This is where ICM is incredibly valuable - it helps you define the correct ways to play push/fold poker.

In your specific hand, assuming this is a 6-max single-table (chip stacks lead me to believe this), with 65/35 payouts...the ICM calculator at HoldemResources.net says your open-shoving range should be:

    22+ A2s+ A9o+ K7s+ KTo+ Q9s+ QTo+ J9s+ JTo T9s

  6. Thanks for the reply,
yes is 6 max, and yes i understand icm, but have reread a good artical on it, have never gone through hand histories to calculate weather i was making the correct icm play, but maybe i shold start doing that, i have a basic feel for hands i should be shoving and calling with but think its a big leak of mine and want to get it just right.
how did you get the hand ranges you posted above? i see the HU nash calculator, but how did you get the ranges for when 6 players??
    thanks

  7. - Click on "Nash Calculator"
    - Enter the blinds, antes, and payout structure
    - Enter the remaining stacks, starting with UTG, and ending with the BB

If you take the OP hand and put it in, you should see your same UTG range as what I got.
