Is it really such a good strategy to push all-in peflop with low-mid (small ball) pairs?
Some pros seem to swear on it but it does not work for me that well when I try it -
I have no idea what you think the term "small ball" means.
But it has nothing to do with low-mid pairs.
EDIT: The term small ball refers to a style of poker where you play relatively small pots a majority of the time. -
Acvet - please keep the porno discussions in the OT.

"push all-in peflop" - that's just gross -
Any time you push all in its not small ball...its long ball because you've committed your whole stack....
-
Like everything else in poker...it depends. Esp on blind levels and stacks.

My memory on this might be hazy cause it's a while since i read HOH where small and long ball came from but as i remember it small ball is when you try to take a small pot straight away in which case a push would qualify,if your push forces a fold. long ball is where your betting actions over several streets of betting set your bluff up for taking down a big pot on the river

I think it depends on position and stack sizes, i will push in late position to steal blinds or push a raise from the blind if i think the raise is a steal attempt but basically the strength of these moves comes from fold equity. other than that the only time i will push with a small pairs is if my M is in such trouble that i need to make a move or if my stack is so large compared to the rest of the table that i can afford to loose a race. With regards to your other post i've never tried it, would you drink it chilled or still warm?

Well here is a quote from the man himself Dan Harrington "In poker, small ball is a style based on making small moves at pots, blending probe and continuation bets, or calls followed by small raises, or bets based on position, to pull down pots cheaply without much of a hand. The keyword here is cheap." Harrington stresses cheap here...
Longball is the opposite...this is where you make your really big bluffs, and continuously hammer on the pot until you get your opponent to lay down his good hand...Longball takes courage and when you fail you can lose all your chips...So longball is not cheap....
So a preflop all in is pure long ball....Whether or not you make such a bet with a small pair depends on several variables...
