If some players with experience playing the biggest live and online tournaments can shed some light on this issue please do! Im highly considering tryin to cut smoking out of my life as i make my descent on the live poker world, has any other player thought about doing this because of primarily the effects it could have on their live poker game? Shoot.

The OP asked for thoughts relating to him attempting to quit smoking as he begins to play more live poker, at least that's the way I read it.

He then receives some comments which clearly communicate the thought that continuing to smoke would be a bad idea for a variety of reasons. While some of the comments may have been judgmental in tone, they did respond to the OP's request for thoughts on the matter.

I am also fairly sure that people who have posted anti smoking messages in this thread have probably analyzed their lives in deciding not to smoke at least as much as those who have posted pro smoking messages. It appears that many of the pro smoking crowd has a bit of a defensive attitude, especially in light of the request for thoughts by the OP.

I do agree that there are bigger fish to fry in general terms, (you should come to an OT political thread, where the major problems of the universe are solved) but this a thread about this topic, so it would be difficult to participate without commenting on the issue at hand. It is not the first thread to raise a trivial issue and it won't be the last.

I'm not sure the OP intended this to become a classic straights v. stoners thread, but it was certainly predictable.

btw Do you stoners drive better when you are high? What's your favorite beer?

Surely not ALL of your accounts are stoners?

If you think you are going to be playing somewhere live for some time and wont be able to smoke its probably best to start getting used to playing online without being able to smoke all the time as well.

herb is a conciousness. If your mind gets used to thinking in a certain state im sure its possible your decisions will be different when you are not in the same mind state.

Got the flat view going here. Yea, that would be a judgmental response.

Yeah Juanda, I get the point you are trying to get across, but this isnt a "Im the father of a teenager message board", this is a forum for Poker PLayer to talk about Poker issues for the mutual betterment.

With all the being said most americans have no idea about issues that poker players come across, nor do they probably care at this point. I might be speaking in the minority but IMO most of our legislators against the legalization of Poker are concerned of A: Money laundering B: That they are getting there proper take (taxes) and C (A much better argument IMO): That it promotes a stagnant base, that the few capitolize on the many, and that you arent actually having to "work hard."

Anyways there are many aspects to whether or not you should smoke live or not, I would go with your boys advice about and see what works best for you

ftr, my post was not a bash against people who smoke. Just against rock and the way he presents pretty much anything in a weirdly cocky way

for me there is not a big difference between drinking and smoking weed. and i think both are perfectly fine if done on weekends or like whatever few times a week but def not if done everyday. So saying all the guys saying people that smoke everyday fail at life but think drinking enormous amounts is fine/cool/whatever is just wrong. its the regularity and the amount that makes it bad.

And yea beeing constantly blazzed changes you as a person that you are obvl and if people need that to enjoy themselves or their lives yea aight say they fail pretty hard. I know ill get hated by 95% off mtt regs now after posting this but meh thats the way i feel about it
