  1. So ive been playing the single table $5 SNG's on stars for about 2 weeks now. Ive only logged in 79 so far, so i know its a small sample size. But my problem is I seem to get a lot of 3rd's and 4th's.

I try to accumulate chips to that I can have a lead going into heads up, but I have just been getting unlucky around those times. For example, I just finished one a little today. It was 3-handed and I had 10K+, other two had 700 and 2.5K (no exageration). I ended up getting knocked out in 3rd by the guy that had 700 going inot 3-handed play.

My question is... will the unluckyness (probably not a word), work itself out? Here are my stats so far to show you how I am doing. I feel like I should be putting up better numbers, or are these fine?

  2. Stats look fine, don't worry about it.

  3. 20% is a pretty good ROI, although I think in the end you could beat the $5.50's for 30%, but just keep chugging, if you won the next three in a row, you wouldn't be asking this question. gl

  4. This is not a problem. 79 sngs... I could do that many in 5 seconds.
  5. If you are reaching lottery time consistently (final 4) then you are doing well outlasting the donks. Have to play tight early and hyperaggressive late. Appears you know this as you have good WP% & good ROI. Better play/tighter play at higher $ levels so continue to build your bankroll before you move up. GL.

  6. Contact jennifear, I hear thats the latest fad.
  7. just give up.

  8. Dont listen to Jeff. Keep up the hard work man. Grinding SNGs isnt always fun but its pretty stable income for me and thats a huge plus! Wish you all the luck
  9. Yeah, the sample size isn't large enough to worry about statistics yet, in my opinion. You'll be fine.

  10. thanks for the advice everyone... especially jeff.

  11. I'm not sure why people play sngs for profit .

Yes it can be profitable but it's played mostly for fun .

Cash games is where the money is at .
  12. "Contact jennifear, I hear thats the latest fad."

Don't know if it's a fad or not, but I'll just say this. Had my first SNG session with Jen last night, and it was paid for by the first SNG:-) I dunno, maybe I was just that bad to begin with, but I learned a ton last night. It's all stuff I had likely read in a book, but it sticks better when I'm able to see it applied live. Jen is very good at explaining moves/strategy on the fly. Highly recommend her for helping what ails your SNG game. (In my case, it was applying a can of WD-40 to my tight **s to loosen it up) LOL.
  13. i just suck at cash games... i would be the guy sitting at the table helping you make a profit. And im not playing for an income. Just a way to play and get better and move up levels, without loosing money.

  14. Your question may be a little to vague. If you want to make some real progress you should consider posting the hand in which the 700stack doubled up (presuming you were the one through whom he doubled) or possibly a few other key hands in the tourneys you finished third and fourth. I think its correct to say that so much of it is situational that without seeing this info any advice would be non-specific and not truly helpfull?
  15. Okay ill keep that in mind. Ive already pulled 1st, 2nd, two 4th's and a 5th today... so bubbled some more today.

  16. Dude, you could play 1,000 sngs and run bad and have a ton of bubbles and play solid at the same time. Short term results don't mean anything, just concentrate on how good you're playing/
  17. 20%+ ROI... looks good to me. I play 99% SNG's and do very well in them. Yes, it is only the 20$ level, but I still have an ROI of close to 30% with several thousand tournaments logged. I found that my best SNG strategy is to play to get in the top 3. Once I get into the top 3, that's when I go for the win. When you play SNG's, a 3rd place finish basically double's your buy-in and 200% profit is a nice win. Some people probably won't agree with this style, but it has worked wonders for me. Give it a shot, but your stat's are definitly fine!

  18. Actually I think most SNG players would agree with the previous post. Make the money and go from there.

  19. Your goal should be to make the best decision on every hand, not to get ITM and then go crazy.
  20. Come sweat at me on Dise I play $50 and $100 sng's and my wp% is 40. Unlike the cash proponent above sng's are very profitable. Come find me if you want experienced help. GL.
