You make it to the final three and the chip stacks are the following :
The chip leader has 9370 chips , you're sitting with a stack of 3755 and the smallest stack has 375 chips . The shortest stack folds on the button and the sb continues his relentless aggression by shoving all in . Blinds are 300-600 with a $50 ante .
You hold pocket aces . What's your play ? -
I like the call as long as you give the screen a high 5, or maybe if you do a double chairspin.
-
Interesting responses . Keep em coming !!
-
KK is an obvious fold with all the math and ICM, etc.......id assume AA is close
I could never fold it though. -
I would call all day long, i like the high five the screen thing, I might steal that...
-
If you fold AA there your an idiot . 1st is the ultimate payoff ... dont settle for less or you won't be a successful poker player. Always shoot for first
-
There's no other response. If you fold there, you shouldn't even bother playing SNGs.
-
I'd call, in SNG's I'm playing for first. You could try and fold your way to second but why? If you were HU with the big stack you'd insta-call here so why not call when 3 handed? If you win now you're chipleader and have a good chance to win the whole thing. There is still a chance the small stack could come back, although it is not likely it is not for sure that you can coast into second place.
ZD -
what if you had kings , do you call there too ?
-
Yes. Playing for first and the money. Jacks is where I have to "think" about it.
ZD -
hmmm
So you fold jacks and maybe call with queens up ? -
Yeah. I'd have to have a "feel" or an idea of the large stacks pushing range though. Not sure jacks are an insta-fold though but I'm not exactly high fiving my monitor now.
ZD -
TT and up.
-
One other thing to consider . Even if you do win , you would be close in chip position , so coming in first isn't automatic . That is , if he's just as good as you are .
-
This example clearly differentiates between CEv and $Ev .
Either decision you make isn't going to change your $Ev from its initial chip position . The decision is closer to a call if you think you can outplay your two remaining opponents . -
TT and up.
-
I would never fold Aces three handed...If you makes this fold then Why play poker?
-
Q7+
-
Ill never fold there, I wouldnt fold there if it was still 4 handed.
-
This is why ICM is so counterintuitive sometimes .
-
i interpret his "relentless aggression" with him shoving any 2 cards here, and with him shoving any 2, AA is an amazingly easy call, calling ranges here are about 99+, AKs, if you ever consider folding here you are an uber donk, even on the bubble with 2 stacks that have less than 1 BB left you should still call with QQ+
-
The decision is closer than you think . I'm surprised everyone thinks calling is clear cut .
For instance , to call with pocket kings is a clear mistake . -
while AA is a definite call here, you don't always shoot for first in a sng, the bubble is much bigger than a mtt and it doesnt pay to do reckless things in an attempt to win.
-
I don't know what the technically right answer is here, but with AA I'm always calling. With KK I'd think, and probably still lean towards calling. QQ I'd probably fold. JJ I think I'd insta-fold. AK would be in the muck pretty quick, too. But this also depends on the pay-out structure...which I assume is just standard here.
I'm interested to hear the correct answer though. -
do you have any math to back this up???
