Yeah, gotta agree with dhuebrmex here...that really depends on the level, the number of tables being played at once, and whether its turbo or regular. What games are you playing?
-
Good players will make more in the regular SNG's than in turbos. At least, that is my contention. I despise the turbos, but I play em because that is where the action is. I can start up 6 turbos before one regular SNG starts. My ROI for Regular SNG's is 0ver 25%. My turbo SNG ROI is less than 10% Fuck turbos. But, what are you gonna do? I also think turbos have adversely affected my MTT game.

-
then you're doing very, very well. the top players in the $30-40 regulars have an ROI of about 22-28%, depending on how many tables they're playing. keep in mind roi numbers arent especially accurat e
until you have around 1k games at a level. Regardless, you'r e doing well, so keep it up. -
You know what I think? If you haven't realized the insignificance of ROI then you are still a poker neanderthol.
ROI doesn't matter. What matters is $$$ per hour.
That is why turbos rule and regular sng's suck ass.
Anyone who disagrees is wrong.
That is all -
While I'll agree with you that $/hour is equally or more important than ROI, I feel compelled to say:
If you're going to use a word, especially in a derogatory manner, it helps to spell it right.
See: "neanderthal"
As far as the original topic, $/hour is not the only important metric. Neither is ROI. I like ROI, as it tells you how well you're doing at a level compared to the opposition, regardless of volume (as long as you have a sufficient sample.) This can be important to let you know when to move up or down, or just to give you an idea of what kind of edge you have at a level. -
You point about ROI being used to measure your edge is valid. However I believe that the vast majority of people give ROI far too much importance. ROI doesnt pay the bills. $$$ does
-
poker.. while u are usually very correct, there are people, namely players who are very close to break-even, who would be winning regular players and losing turbo players.
If your ROI is 0-5%, regular is the way to go, as far as $/hr. -
How can anyone say ROI is not important it is everything
your roi is - you are't making dick per hour no matter how you cut it -

-
This is the dichotomy.. Say you play $20+2 ten handed sng's. Single-tabling you achieve a 25% ROI.
You make $5.50 per sng. Lets say each sng takes 45 minutes. You are making $7.33 per hour.
Lets compare that to another player who 4 tables the same sng's but his ROI is 12%
He makes $2.64 per sng. Say it takes him 10 minutes to get all 4 sngs fired up. He is making $11.58 per hour.
Now compare that to yet another player who 8 tables the same sng's but to the tune of 8% ROI.
He makes $1.76 per sng. Lets say it takes him 20 minutes to get all 8 fired up. He is making $13.03
Once again.
Player A - One-tabling 25% ROI $7.33
Player B - 4-tabling 12% ROI $11.58
Player C - 8-tabling 8% ROI $13.03
Player A's ROI is more than triple Player C's, yet Player C makes almost double what Player A does.
Which one would you rather be?
Do you understand the dichotomy now? -
very good post man it really does matter how many tables your playing for your rio to really be considered over rate per hour

Isn't this under FAQ on 2+2? Google... have you heard of it?
