I started a heads-up thread awhile ago and got great response and even had a couple of the best hu players pm me on the subject which was invaluable. I hope to get some similar feedback to this.
I have always had a great feel for single table tournies and just starting to get back to them on fulltilt. think i have a good grasp of bubble play without ever studying it. Now as i've stated in my HU thread, I am pretty much a nit and way overrolled for the stakes i play, but just want the confindence to change that as i have a 100k job and play poker for the fun.
I play the micros ($2) right now, but do have a 21% winning rate in them, cash 54% of the time, and only bubble about 9% of the time so i know what i do is working, but i play by feel alone and don't know the fine points of playing them.
Right now i pretty much play:
50% cash games
20% heads-up sng's
20% 1 table sng's
10% mtt's (only on days off from work)
I love poker so i only play 3 tables max, so i can get the full experience, so telling me to 16 table them isn't going to happen for this guy.
One funny note that stats really don't lie. lately i've been sharkscoping my tables and it's amazing how they pretty much go in the order of how bad they are. 9th worst goes out in 9th next worse goes out. almost without exception this is how it goes in the micros. just thought it was funny.
Anyway, not to get this thing too long, any advice from winning players would be much appreciated....also on more thing. I try and stay away from turbos, even though i have done well in them as well, but my game play is suited for longer games. am i losing alot of value by not playing them? -
turbo's just improve ur hourly rate n unless u kno push/fold cold i would stay away from them. grind out the non-turbo's until u feel u r killin it then move up n repeat. at the low stakes u should b able to beat em pretty well simply playing abc. glgl
single table turbo's tAKE 35-50 min
single table non-turbo's take 60-100 min -
I know turbo vs. non-turbo is a personal choice, so this is just my opinion. I swore off turbos two months ago. When doing so, I moved up in stakes because the variance of non-turbos is so much less. The net result has been an increase in both $/hr and ROI.

it sounds like your playing for fun rather than $, so stick to non-turbos. i play turbo's because with a good knowledge of push/fold ranges, and ICM, they can be easily crushed (for like 10-12% ROI) and provide a crackin hourly rate. variance is never going to be toooooo extreme for STTs, and while turbos have more than non turbos, i find 60 BIs to be plenty.
if ur killing micro-stakes and rolled for higher, i don't see why you wouldn't move up. you want to challenge your game and keep improving, which you won't continue to do much longer just playing micros.
Gl to you sir.
