Over the past 3-4 days or so I've been getting cold cards (I know I can't help it when I back into a hand because a set of queens tries to trap me on the flop and I turn broadway only to have him go wild and eventually boat on the river)/ not playing my best to lose ~20% of my bankroll. Is this when you guys take a significant break (2-3 days away from the game entirely), just to get your mind somewhere else so you can refocus when you come back? I'm thinking of waiting until my new 22 in. samsung monitor arrives (Supposedly going to be at my doorstep sometime in the next week), just so I won't jump into a game online before I'm ready.

when im on a big losing streak, i find myself often joining tournies to "win money" not just to "play poker". its during this phase that you make the most mistakes and get off your game. by taking a break for a few days youll want to play poker again because you love the game, not just for the money. when youre playing because you truly want to and enjoy it, thats when you play your best. all the games you play will be there in a few days, but if you play stupid your bankroll wont be.

Taking a break could be a good idea. You want your frame of mind to be positive and you need to be focused on playing instead of being on some sort of tilt from a rough few days.
Fluctuations in you Bankroll are normal and pretty impossible to avoid due to variance so take some time to review your play and check for leaks while you are not playing. Even the best players can have them.
Christen that new samsung monitor with a big winning day when you are all refreshed and ready to go.
good luck -
call a help line
actually just take a break, work out -
move up stakes, chase losses, and double your BR by the end of the night.

hey 20% is OK......i lose 100% of my bankroll every time i turn my laptop on

I've lost 90% of my roll in last 2 months :'(

Switch games.
Start playing omaha or Stud -
I lost more than 50% of my bankroll which started by me playing stupid because I got cocky after winning a few tournys and then I went on a run on bad beats and turned into one long tilt session. I've got it back to 30% down with a big cash in a tourny this morning but I've got a long ways to go to get back to where I was when I was playing my best poker.

Samsung came today... WOOHOO!

I just lost 100% of my BR on stars for close to $800 playing like a fucking retard like I usually do after a couple of big SNG wins. So I fucking banned myself from Stars for 6 months. I don't think a small break would do any good. Talk about life taking a shit on someone.

I am actually at a point where it throws me off of my game to NOT play. I am becoming immune to beats and variance for the most part and have ben able to play pretty consistent under any conditions unless I don't play for a little while. If I take a day or two off, it puts me off kilter for the first couple of rounds. If I don't play for a week or more, forget about it. I don't play awful, but I certainly don't play good either. I need to constantly be thinking about the game and analyzing my own play and posting on forums and reading about it in order to play very well.
