Ok so with had all had our say about whether we think Dario was soft playing Inissent but here is a strategical answer as to why Dario would be more aggressive UTG than in the SB.
1. There is more to gain by shoving UTG than in the SB.
By shoving UTG he is hindering every one of the short stacks. Inissint can not abuse his button position and both cdbr and whoo lose their blinds obviously. When shoving in the SB the only short stack he is hurting is Inissint. So, in conclusion it is better to take a risk shoving UTG than in the SB because there is more to be gained. This is obviously especially important if he respects Inissent more than the other players.
2. He is less likely to get called when shoving every hand UTG than every hand in the SB.
Bakes/Whoo stated in the thread that Inissent can only call a shove from Dario with AA. In my opinion Inissent only calling with AA when Dario is shoving every hand would lead to Innisent busting in 4th most of the time.
With Dario on Innisents right Inissent has very few opportunities to steal so if he were to give up his BB every time he did not have AA he would quickly become the very short stack and be getting it all in with a very marginal hand possibly against multiple opponents. So Inissent has to have a wider calling range in the BB than AA.
However, when Dario shoves UTG Innisents range will probably reduce back down to just AA with the other 2 short stacks to act after him. From the comments Bakes/Whoo made we can assume that his calling range against a shove from Dario is only AA. I am going to give cdbr a range of KK+ which I believe is fairly accurate with Bakes/Whoo to act after him.
As we all know the chance of getting dealt a specific pair in the hole is 0.45%.
So when Dario shoves UTG he has to get through 2 players with a range of exactly AA and one player with a range of KK+.
So the chance of Dario being called when shoving UTG is 0.45 + 0.45 + 0.9 = 1.9%.
As I said earlier Inissent would have to widen his calling range in a SB v BB confrontation to avoid busting in 4th most of the time when Dario is repeatedly shoving.
So what are the smallest ranges that result in Dario being called a larger percentage of the time when shoving in the SB as opposed to UTG?
KK+, AKs, AKo = 2.1% of the time Dario is called.
QQ+, AKs, Ako = 2.6% of the time Dario is called.
JJ+, AKs = 2.1% of the time Dario is called.
Are any of these incredible ranges for Inissent to be calling with in the BB if Dario is shoving every hand? I personally think at least one of these ranges is possible.
In conclusion it was more +ev for Dario to shove UTG than in the SB.
Flame away.
