Some questions about new WA poker law

    The new legislation passed in WA state seems vague in many respects to me and does not clearly define all aspects of online poker play. Specifically, the law says transmitting or receive gambling information is now a class C felony.

    Some questions:

    1. Is play poker in a play money account a felony?
    2. Is playing in a freeroll that has a potential monetary award a felony?
    3. If you have T$ left over from before the law change, is playing in tournaments with those T$ a felony?
    4. Is playing an FPP tournament a felony?

    I'm not sure the law is well thought out and it isn't clear to me that all forms of poker fit with the definition of gambling. It seems vague to me. Anybody know of any precedent or legal opinions on this matter?

    Incidentally, after June 1 PuertoKid will no longer exist.

    Can you direct me to wear I can read about this new law? I just moved to WA about 8-9 months ago and not familiar with this. Thanks.

    Playing for play money is legal, and I got to assume freerolls would be too, including FPP's. The $T, I am not sure about.

    The law kicks in on the 7th. I am not sure how it will be enforced, though. There has been no talk about it on the news or in any paper that I have seen. However, I am not going to take any chances on it. If they are really going to enforce it, they will want to make an example of someone. I will probably play some play money games to work on my game for a few weeks and see what happens with the law from there.

    I personally don't think it will be enforced. I think this law passing is being used as a statement and they know a lot of people like us will stop because we don't want to test it.

    How many people living in Washington State play on-line poker ? 50,000 ? 100,000 ? .....the Washington State legislature is gonna try to make 'felons' out of 100,000 people on the 7th ?

    Felons are supposed to go to jail. Are they gonna put 100,000 on-line poker players in jail in Washington State ?

    This law is pure BULLSHIT !!! It is amazing shit laws like this can actually get passed in America....land of the FREE.......this law is WORSE than the failed alcohol prohibition fiasco ....

    Washington State's legislature is full of FOOLS !! Have they nothing BETTER to do with their time and taxpayer's money ?
