  1. Working about 1 or 2 hours south of the Oklahoma border. I was thinking about heading up there untill the internet mess is cleared up. Hows the action? Tournaments have good structures? how bad is the RAKE MONSTER? any imformation?
  2. where about exactly? There is a place called the Windstar about an hour north of Dallas which will be spreading some HUGE games this weekend with everyone in Dallas for the UT OU game. I was there last year and they had some deep 5/10 all the way up to 25/50NL.

  3. Yeah, but it took 2 - 3 hours to get on a table. I'm in Ft. Worth and would much rather drive to Shreveport. The additional 2 hour drive is worth it for a lot of reasons.

  4. i work in granbury, and was thinking about spending 2 weekends a month playing poker up in OK. I really don't want to go to Shreveport, due to legality of me leaving the state. (Probation is -EV) but i would like to hit up the 1-2 or 2-5 NL games, and play the ocasional MTT.

  6. Well, you are leaving the state when you go to Oklahoma. If I was going to leave the state, I would still take my chances in Shreveport. Just keep a low profile.

  7. why is Shreveport so much better? I guess 2 hours more driving is not that bad.

  8. i'm up at WinStar a few times a week. and if you live just south of the border, then its probably your best bet because the drive won't be very far. though, keep in mind, i believe they just changed their poker room hours again from 10:00am to 4:00 am on the weekends. no longer 24 hrs at this time.
  9. right now, WinStar is offering tournaments Monday--Thursday. Monday and Thursday are 100+15 buy-ins. Tuesday is a rebuy with intial fee of 30+10 and then 20 for additional rebuys. And Wednesday is a 50 dollar tournament. Not the best structures around but overall decent enough to take a shot.
  10. A couple of reasons that I like Shreveport better.

The poker room is bigger ( the tables are not on top of each other). There are actually 2 poker rooms in Shreveport (El Dorado and Horseshoe). The El Dorado is nicer in my opinion.

If you are staying for the weekend, there is only 1 hotel near the Oklahoma casino. I prefer to stay in Shreveport and cab it to the casinos - $5 will get you practically anywhere.

No table games in Oklahoma - except for BJ where it costs you .50 just to get dealt cards. At sometime during the weekend I may venture down to the craps table.

No alcohol in Oklahoma - something to do with Indians or letting 18 YO in there. It's nice to have cocktail waitresses available if you want a drink or cold beer.

Better food selection, the have some killer restaurants where the female's outnumber the males by about 8 to 1 (not a strip joint).

The dealers are better. The staff and service just seems better.

If you are under 21, the Oklahoma is the place.
  11. thanks for all the post...cleared up the grey areas. Are the MTT's in Shreveport crap shoots? I like playing MTT's but i hate all in fest right from the start. also do they spread any other games like Omaha, and its Hi-Low version?

  12. I have been to Buffalo run once before....I go to MU in Columbia and was wanting to come back down also....not meaning to hi-jack but could someone post or PM me with info on NL holdem or any omaha8 cash games that are running..probably 2-5 NL is what I am looking for. Also, I am only 20 so I cannot go to anything other than the Indian Casinos till January 7th! Thanks to anyone who responds. Would like to come down on either a Thurday or Friday and play through Sunday. Thanks again.

  13. I agree with Rock Me. Winstar will have a 4-5 hour wait on the weekends no matter what time you go. It is definately worth the extra drive to Shreveport, Windstar is in the middle of nowhere. I usually play at El Dorado when I'm in Shreveport. The room is much bigger and generally nicer. The only thing I like better at horseshoe is the auto shufflers. Besides that the room is cramped and not many tables. I haven't seen any PLO or O8 at any of the 3 places. My suggestion: go to El Dorado. Plus, they have a great sports bar on the first floor by the casino that has 5 beers for $7. Can't find a better deal. Windstar is a waste of time and you'll be sorry you went. I hope this helps.
  14. Which casinos are you wanting to go to? Like one of the guys said earlier, the WinStar casino in Thackerville will be getting some very, very good games going this weekend due to the big football game.

WinStar in Thackerville only offers Limit and No Limit Hold'em Games. They are having a concert there Friday so only the main room will be open for poker, but on Saturday, I'm almost positive that they'll open up the showplace for more tables.
  15. Are all of these 18+? Not 21 till Jan....thanks again.

  16. ok...guess i will load up on the redbull and drive the extra bit. the wait for a table will be spent at the blackjack tables, and that is a horrid idea. SHREVEPORT HERE I COME. and i bet the food is better also. always important to someone who eats non stop.

  17. WinStar in Thackerville is 18+ and so is the Choctaw in Durant. If you are going to chose between the two, go to WinStar. So are you taking a trip up there this weekend?
  18. anyone else going to be at winstar in thackerville this weekend?
  19. I love the Choctaw Casino in Durant. Its up Highway 75 from Dallas. Its about thirty more minutes away from Dallas to the Choctaw then it is to drive to Winstar. It is perty good. Its less cramped then Winstar's and its 24 hours. :-) The play on the weekend is more loose than it would be during the week.
