Villain was running 26/18 over 60ish hands 3bet 4%. We're on the bubble of the money and it just seemed like a great spot for him to 3 bet me, I went with my gut instinct that I thought he was full of shit so basically just insta jammed it in his face without a great deal of thought at the time. Was never going to flat cos I just thought that would be a spew and i'd be in a really spoony position on a lot of flops.
What do people think of it?
What would you do here?

Seems pretty spewy to me without a better read, even though he has been playing a lot of hands, his 3b percentage is fairly low. Unless you can be fairly sure that he might do this just as a bluff I would say just ditch it and move on, just making a very snap judgement about his numbers I would say he is likely to be flatting most of the weaker hands he would decide to play. Also "spoony position on most flops"? that is a new one to me.
-
Haha yeah sorry I am pretty tired now so struggling to type in a way that makes sense. Think that's part of the reason for the spew as well.
Yep your analysis would make good sense, really need to take my hand off the mouse in these situations.
Cheers tho! -
I ran into a similar spot playing cash the other day when a guy who was running pretty high numbers and limped my button straddle so I popped it big on the option. He 3-bet 3X my raise and I jammed my 8s for like 120. About the second those chips crossed the line I realized I fucked up and he flipped Qs. He had peeled about 100 off of me about 10 hands earlier when I three barreled him and he called me down on a raggy ace. So in my mind he thought I was steaming and picked a perfect spot to three bet me when I tried to punish his limp on my straddle and jammed. Moral of the story is looking back I don't think he was ever three betting me light in that spot knowing I'm capable of doing exactly what I did with mediocre holdings. Sometimes its not about how perfect of a spot it seemed for him to three bet you, and more about what you can actually beat if he decides to call. I think on a money bubble with your hand your in pretty weak shape vs his range

Yeah I definitely should of just found the fold button reality, thanks for the input.
If anyone's interested he tank called me with TT. -
You're on the bubble and can't lay down 99 basically..the bubble dictates strange play sometimes..call me a nit if you like, but I'm either flatting or folding..probably actually folding..not proud of some of the plays I've made around the bubble, but I've made some big folds pre..and given the poker software in use these days..they have usually been correct..due to standard "bubble coolers"..I absolutely hate flipping for big pots(busted out of alot of tourns that way)I folded AA preflop in a sattelite once b/c we were 2 spots away from payout, and I had plenty of chips..the bet would have put me all in..I didn't fold..I walked away from the screen and let it time out..lol.. ..sometimes you have to flip..usually dictated by your stack..but this is not one of those times..as far as the thin read..basic bubble strategy(and tourn strat in general) is that if the rest of the table is playing loose..you should tighten up..if the table is playing tight you should play looser..this is not a "BAD" play, just not well thought out..and we've all been there
