???
around 35 players left
we have 0 history but villain is a good winning player
what range do you give the villain here? -
i played this guy in the turbo 200 HU the other day and unless hes just godawful at HU hes not a "good winning player"
either way , why did you bet this turn? did you think he would call with worse, which doesn't seem possible if hes even remotely good. just fold now that you turned your hand into a bluff
EDIT: also since you have the Js, there are very few spade combinations that he can be semibluffing with here, and even less likely he has TJ, which are the only hands you beat, other than pure air which he does not have. -
looks like he has a weak ace and checked the flop to see if he could make two pair on the turn or get you to take a stab at the pot. either way his range is probably <AJ but could also be KQ,KJ,KT...he's also showing up here with 88,99...anyway what is the point, once he shoves what can you beat? nothing. you really think he has QJ?? next time bet flop and see what happens. in any case this is a snap check or in your case a snap fold.
-
just curious, because i have problems with spots like this... becuase i think i maybe turn hands with showdown value in bluffs too often... if we check turn and he bets anything thats more than half pot we snap fold i think!?
-
hmmm......i can see why you think its a tough spot. 2 checks....to raise that amount after you bet.
i check the turn.
and obv fold in that spot -
Ok so iv put quite a lot of thought into this hand, and obv its been bugging me a lotttttt, so here are my thoughts on it.
First off, i completely agree with what DFish and a few others said i definately should be checking back the turn. I play a lot of heads up cash and i value bet super thin but obv this is a different scenario and i like checking back much more here.
Anyway, so this analysis is going to have to be as played. I assumed villain was a good thinking player as he has a pretty good opr on both ftp and stars So imo his flatting range would be fairly tight, weighted towards small pp's good suited connecters and sometimes AA/KK. Ok so i kinda eliminated K9 A9 AK 99 and 88 from his preflop flatting range. Possibly flats with 88, but i had been fairly active so im sure he would 3 bet good As and 99-QQ.
Checking back the flop also looks kinda suspicious, so i didn't see how he would shove any single pairs, and would surely flat with all one pair hands. Might even just call with 89 as my line looks v strong or v marginal. So his range came across as heavily weighted towards some kind of f/draw or straight draw and sometimes AA/KK, as it seemed the perfect spot to check shove that type of hand imo.

<span>neverb1uff67: shows [Jc Js] (a pair of Jacks)</span>

Sigh...
This obv makes me looks kinda silly, but i don't like the way he played this hand at all as he can never expect to be called by a worse hand by shoving there, unless hes levelled the fuck out of me lol.
I do think iv learnt from this hand and I think the biggest mistake i made was making too many assumptions. And thinking random players ranges in certain spots would be the same as what my range would be.
Thoughts and feedback please?
Is my analysis way off and am i always crushed here? -
99.9% of the time you sir are indeed crushed. bet flop next time re-eval turn
