When I used to put in a ton of volume tourny wise 20-30k swings were standard....i think like 45k was my biggest downswing
-
I think my biggest was about 10k over a months period, standard is around 6-7k. But know some others who have had much larger than that.
fwiw, I don't play the 100r or 1k, but play all the others. -
I would like to hear more responses, not to hijack, but I had a backer, profited 18K the first month, may 2008, then went on a 5K downswing first week of june, and he said he doesnt want to do it anymore, even though i profited 13K in our business relationship. playing everything but the 100 rebuy and the 1K. I am still pissed off about this. UGH

Ive had a few 10-15k downswings, dont think any above 20k. I play $50-$300 MTTs mostly including sunday 500s and 1ks and up to 50r, and the occasional 100r
-
im currently at about 10k and dropping, playing a few 100r a week and about 1.5 1ks per week, and its starting to affect my play. how do u go thru a sick downer and stay positive?

How do you guys deal with large mtt downswings? I play lower limit mtts and when everything seems to go wrong day after day I seem to lose focus and find it so hard to play a tournament from start to finish without making some stupid plays or throw away chips here and there.
-
easiest way is to deal with an MTT downswing is to snap off a big tourney imo

Money starts to lose its value...it starts just becoming chips....if you have confidence in ur game--you know its just a matter of time to hit the upswing..Losing and winning money starts to lose the extreme emotions that occur when you first start playing

play cash, or omaha

seems kinda weird.. was he rolled well enough for the backing? maybe it was his first one and didn't know what the swings were like. i have a backer as well and it doesn't seem to phase him when i get to maybe -7k and he has several other horses as well.

currently 0-46 tournaments in cashing... dont want to know how much im down but assuming $75 abi so u do the math
-
I dont play much these days but when i did my biggest down swong was 10k in about a month playing only a few 100r's and no 1k's, but everything else
-
"Standard downswings" tend to be 20-50 average buy-ins, which can be quite large if ur playing 100Rs. My biggest downswing was 115 abi = $28k which occured over a 3 month span / 250 mtts and obv happened not long after i won the 100R twice in one day. it was mostly 100R negative variance plus probably my game wasn't as good then as it is now and the luck of winning had given me too much confidence.
I've since adopted much more conservative BR management and improved my game. Recent downswings seem to be less brutal, but most likely because i don't often play 100Rs anymore. -
Zigmund on Fulltilt said he lost 5M cash games in the last 11 weeks........ pretty sick....
