Out in 4th after a failed steal. At first I was disappointed with my performance, then I reviewed my hand history. I had a feeling I had gone on a pretty dry run, but had no idea quite how dry. I pulled every hand I got dealt and high-lighted any pairs, AQ or AK. Pretty ridiculous; a good primer for anyone who argues tournaments are about going on sick card runs:

Late in a tournament and short handed I don't really think about cards at all. I try to steal once every 2-3 orbits from the SB, button, cut-off, or one off (varying it to look a little less predictable). It's nice if you can do it with suited connectors or at least connectors so you have some protection when you do get a call but it's definitely not necessary.

Usually when you're this deep a shove isn't necessary. A standard 3-4x raise represents 30-60% of an average player's stack, so that's all the pressure you need.

The continuation bet... well that depends on the texture of the flop. If I try to steal with KJ and the flop comes 237, then yes I'm probably stabbing. If I steal with 72 and the flop comes JQK... maybe not. Feeling out when a cbet is going to take it down is really all about the table, the players, and experience.
