I am watching one of my stakes in the Scoop 165 2X on stars, and newly named pro Ivan Demodov, has been talking quite a bit in Russian. I don't believe that he has any ill intentions in doing so, but my stake did not feel comfortable so he called the chat moderator, and the following occurred... I find both the double standard and the chat moderator response to be offensive.
Ivan Demidov: osobenno kogda cheloveky gutshot doehal na 100k
Dealer: wwnnxxtt, it's your turn. You have 10 seconds to act
Dealer: Game #26692332243: LittleHippie wins pot (18750)
Dealer: APerfectGent, it's your turn. You have 10 seconds to act
Dealer: Comandr_Cool, it's your turn. You have 10 seconds to act
Dealer: moe86, it's your turn. You have 10 seconds to act
Dealer: Player moe86 has requested TIME
Moderator30 [Moderator]: Please refrain from repeatedly calling a moderator, as this is seen as misuse of the feature, and may result in loss of chat. -
pokerstars pro's can speak in their native language to their fans. It's happened a few times with other pro's.

Dear stars:
It appears that PS Pro Ivan Demidov is allowed to chat in Russian. While I understand that having a PS Pro speaking to fans in his or hers native tongue, I would like to be able to review his chat. As non-PS pros are only allowed to speak English at the tables, I can normally determine if there is any inappropriate discussions take place. However, as I do not speak Russian, please review my hand history in Tournament 1232425324 and provide me with the translation of his chat so that I can make a similar determination.
Sincerely, XXX

Basically - make them provide you with a translation. It will be such a pain in the ass that maybe they'll ask him to stop. -
Jeff, you know I love you man, but I really hate the English only at the table rule.
People from all over play online, and I think it's really unfair to non-English speakers to make them have to stay silent at the tables.
One of the best things about online poker is being able to rail your friends and generally BS at the tables, so if you can't speak English you have to be silent? That just seems so unfair, and lets face it, if someone is dumb enough to collude in another language at the tables, don't we want that to happen? -
Jeff you're entirely right. The double standards stars maintains for their pro players (and friends *cough cough zee justin*) is unfair and bad business.

stars pros are allowed to speak to their fans in their native tongues. Infact the pros are encouraged to interact with everybody. The English only at the table rule has been changing basically daily and I think Stars will end up removing it pretty quickly.

The thread isnt to see if you think if its right or wrong. It is to let people know about the double standard has. Almost everyone agrees the english only is dumb, but it is a rule and everyone should have to abide by it.
