Don't disagree it's prob well worth it for the intended target market (HS ballers with big rolls). Just seems like a huge gouge for Mid & Low stakes people who might have interest &/or good reason to want that security.

You'd think stars would want to be seen as promoting security more universally...

  5. i think they will give you the mouse pin pad thing without the rsa token if you email them

  6. I dont understand why its not free? At least for people with a roll over 100 bucks? I mean, pokerstars is practically a bank. Banks have awesome security. They hold money and who knows, probably invest it which I'm not against but just like the bank, there should be something in place to make our accounts super secure.
  7. Actually this service is fairly expensive to setup if done correctly. I was involved in a setup once in a Bank for instance and they need a seperately secured room for the Authentication Server with two person physical key access. Then they had to pay for an expensive audit prior to getting their private key injected. Security is not cheap. They have to pay for the technology on their side as well.

This, and the cost of labor in order fulfillment. The DHL guy just dropped mine off this afternoon and it's well worth it imo.

  9. Love this thing......well worth the money
  10. If you think it's overpriced, then you probably don't need one.
  11. I looked and the tokens themselves are rly expensive (even when you buy them in bulk. Talking 1000's at a time) I have no idea how paypal affords to offer them so cheap.

  15. How does this work actually? you need it every time you log in?
  16. There's an official free iPhone app that can do this for you. I haven't bothered to email stars to see if they'd let me do that.
  17. $100 for peace of mind, sold

  18. Hello,

The price for the RSA Security Token in the pokerstars VIP Store is the "cost" price for what it costs PokerStars to provide that individual token (including the cost of the token itself, the license to RSA and shipping & handling). PokerStars does not profit from sales of the RSA Security Token.

PokerStars has paid all the additional costs (such as the cost of the new server hardware, the cost of the programmers, the cost of the graphic designers, the ongoing cost of support and so on).

PokerStars makes no profit out of selling these RSA Security Tokens through the PokerStars VIP Store - rather, it is a significant expense for us. We're happy to pay this cost because we think that by giving players the security and safety of the world's leading security token provider, PokerStars and players will benefit in the long run.

We also expect these tokens will operate for five years. That works out to be a cost of around 23FPPs per week, which we think is fairly reasonable. This is not a device that we expect you to "consume" in the same way as a printer cartridge, but something that represents further value.

Finally, we recognise that not everyone will wish to pay the 6,000 FPPs to obtain a RSA Security Token, which is why we have also introduced the PokerStars PIN at the same time. This is entirely free, and there is no charge for the PokerStars PIN.
As always, if you have more specific queries, or wish to discuss this in greater detail, feel free to email us anytime at support@pokerstars.com.

    Sincerely,

    Michael J
    PokerStars Game Security Team
