  1. What is a good bankroll to start off with if i want to play micro stakes .05 /.10 and $1 and $2 tournies.

I have been playing for a little while, and usally deposit $50, i either get it to $100 and take it out...or go above my head and blow it. I want to start grinding a roll properly and start moving up slowly.

    Thanks
  2. $200 is like perfect for .05/.10 and $1 and $2 MTTs

  3. Whatever you decide to play with, if you don't follow good bankroll management it won't be enough. With that said, probably $200-$300 is good to begin with at that level. That should give you some flexibility to figure it all out. Good luck!
  4. Screw BR management at lower levels. Once you get to .25/.5 then I think its worth considering following some kind of BR restriction

  5. Well, here is the question, what is your real bankroll here?

Your bankroll is not what you deposit. Just because you deposit $50, if you lose it and automatically reload, then you really have a higher bankroll.

Depending on the tournaments, you might want to up yourself to the $5 games, only because some $1 games have over 20% tournament fee. That is going to eat into your winnings.
  6. Well i cant afford to keep reloading so i am looking to make one last deposit to set me up, and build on. Just trying to get an idea on how much i need to play the lower cash games and tournies without going broke or losing too much and chasing my losses.

Also, are there any books i could read that suit my situation. Im looking to improve and was wondering if a book might help me do that.

  7. There are a ton of useful books: Harrington on Hold 'Em is probably the best for tournament players. All good players swear by it. But before you go buy them, check out the strategy archives here at p5s first. You will get a lot of great information for free before you have to shell out $$$ for good poker books.
I understand your predicament. You don't want to keep reloading, losing it, and reloading again. The ONLY way to avoid doing that again is to load a sufficient amount to enable yourself to feel comfortable and not play above your limits. That is the only way you will ever make it.
If you want to know about books that people would recommend, click on their p5 user page: Most of us have filled out the books we found particularly helpful. If you are really just getting into tourney poker, I honestly feel the best book to get your feet wet is Helmuth's "Play like the Pros." It is easy and approachable, and won't tax you too much too early. Once you have read that jump into some Harrington. Save Sklansky for last. He revels in making the mundane pedantic.
  8. sadly, im pretty sure you cant afford to reload cuz you might be down playing poker. So, no matter what you start at, going down is prollyl the outcome.
