Just want to get some of the MTT reg's thoughts on this. For a player who is highly profitable at 180s, what is the biggest difference in making the transition to 2000+ field MTTs?

become more patient and lower your expectations

Stay away!! 2K+ fields are like strippers....they tease you with the land of milk/honey and a pot of gold at the end of the nite...... but really all you are doing is losing $1.00 at a time.

A couple things come to mind:
1) Variance. With the larger field sizes comes increased variance. You should be prepared for some downswings / non-cashing streaks that are longer than you are used to from the 180s.
2) Payouts. Even tho stars typically pays the top 15% of the field in the MTTs, most of the money is still stacked up top. Expect to get a bunch of cashes that are like 2x-5x your buyin. However, if you do take one down, its pretty good money and you are allowed to do the snoopy dance for 15 minutes after a win.
3) Length of time to complete. Some (especially rebuys) can take up to 8 hours to finish (if you do well).
4) Starting stacks. Some (most?) start with 3000 chips, which gives you more flexibility in the early part of the tournament. -
larger field sizes mean a bunch more shitty players, but you gotta run like god.
