1. So I haven't been able to log on to FT or PS for the past two days (even as an observer, it only gets as far as 'connecting', and in all other areas my internet works fine). I have tried resetting the modem/router as well as my comp, resetting my firewall (McAfee), making sure the date on my comp is correct and so on....I also tried using a different wireless network and that didn't work as well, so I am lost. I emailed PS but who knows how long it will take them to help me.

The last thing I tried was uninstalling and reinstalling the PS hardware, but of course nothing. At this point I'm restraining myself from playin on UB as it is the only site that is working for me at the moment. If someone can get me back online at PS I will ship at least $10, maybe more if the solution is complicated, but I doubt it is. Help?
  2. If you're using windows, you're not logged in or using it as a local administrator.
  3. Can you log on to Stars somewhere else? Isolate the problem anyway.. Have someone you know try to log on.. Then you can can definatly tell if its something in your system.
  4. Go into your C:\Program Files\PokerStars user.ini and add or change to the following.

    [connect]
    userport=443

Credit for this goes to 1imagine4
  5. Anything working for you yet? Try uninstalling McAfee and see where that gets you. I know my father-n-law was able to get onto FT after uninstalling their firewall.
  6. thanks for the replies. Monkey that didn't work for me, but maybe i didn't do it wrong. I am going to try and log on as administrator now, see what happens

  8. Did you try editing your user.ini file like I sugested above?
  9. Yes monkey i added [connect] then userport=443 and nothing

  10. Have you already uninstalled McAfee?
  11. Disable firewall and anti virus and try
  12. McAfee is not the answer...tried disabling everything and still doesn't work...wtf is going on it was working fine up until yesterday

  13. If my sisters comp is the administrator i suppose this could be the problem....how do i figure this out and log myself on as administrator?
    Thread Starter
  14. right click on the START button. If you see "Open All Users" rather than just "Open," the account is in the local Administrators group.

-edit- this is for Windows XP.
  15. I just installed ps on my sisters comp (desktop) and after installing the pstars window popped up with my nick and pw already saved....although it still didn't get past the 'connecting' phase and eventually just said 'unable to connect to server'. i think this might be a security issue as her network is not encrypted, but i dont know

  16. Whether or not you are the administrator is not going to be the issue (especially all of a sudden). And obviously you've tried rebooting the computer? Is it just hung like its trying to log in but doing nothing? If so try unhooking everything. Log off your computer, power down your router and modem as well as unplugging them. Then after a few minutes bring your modem up, then your router then your computer. If nothing still... uninstall PS again. Delete all the PS files from your drive. Then download again.
  17. when i right click on start it says 'open all users'

  18. Sounds like a firewall issue. You uninstalled McAfee for sure right? Also, are you and your sister networked? If so and her machine is for sure the administrator of the network then hers could be blocking it. Maybe try uninstalling McAfee on her machine if this is the case.
  19. what i would do is RESTORE your computer to a earlier date. Its in the control panel area. It restores ur computer to a date that u request.."when u could log on" thats what i would do.

  20. but why would my sisters comp start blocking me out of the blue?
    Thread Starter
  21. RESTORE will work For sure!!!It restores to when ur computer was workin fine. GL
  22. Well if your sister did something on her computer or installed some kind of shareware etc it may be effecting it. That is if you guys are networked. Maybe try hooking your computer directly to the internet instead of networking.
  23. where do i go to restore? dont see it in control panel...nm got it
    Thread Starter
  24. start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore
  25. restore did nothing...this is really ridiculous...also my sister isn't living here right now so she hasn't fucked with it at all before or since it stopped working...and like i said the pstars on her comp has the same problem

  26. Is the date on your computer right...a couple months ago i couldnt log into stars for a few days and i saw my computer said Jan 6, 2038. I changed it to the current date and it worked.
  27. date is correct

  28. Maybe your service provider has it blocked?
  29. 8nt, would they start blocking it suddenly? this sounds like a pretty good explanation to me, but then why would UB not be blocked?
