  1. Wondering what peoples thoughts are on this play... calling a pre flop raise from blinds then shoving flop. I dont do it a whole lot but i have noticed that when holding small to mid pairs in the blinds my opponents overcards hit on turn or river... of course its a complete guess as to whether opponent hit flop when there is only one card over T... and its a disater when shoving an under pair to opponents hand with 2 to come but on flipside opp going to miss flop 1/3 with un paired hole cards.

Related to this is desirability of seeing all five cards with AK/AQ/AJ/KQ - i much prefer to shove these hands (not so much KQ but depends on villain).

    Thoughts?

  2. I would say that is quite a lot more gambling than I'm comfortable with. I like to play ABC poker and just stick with the basics of playing TAG.
  3. i like this play in middle to late stage mtt play
esp when your hand is too good to fold and 3b is akward
stack sizes. 2 days ago i used it and it got thru
ex: i called a middle position raise with 77 with just under 30bb
flop was 882 and i shove around 25bb on the flop. i like shoving
more than check raising because any c bet he makes will give
him great odds to call the check-shove with 2 overs (most likely)
keep in mind this is post antee so the pot is already bloated.
  4. agree that 77 is likely good on an 882 flop.

its the flops with one or two overs esp A-T that are more difficult. check folding a three high card flop basically turns the flat call pf into a set mine at terrible price.

do you open shove 77 on an AJT flop?

im abandoning the stop n go on an unfavorable flop such as ^^
where it likely hits opponents range with at least a pair or
    combo draw. I c/f there.
  6. Also ftr, i dont really consider it set mining in spots like this.
basically ur looking for a seemingly safe flop to put it in
including the times u dont hit a set.
  7. Stop and goes don't work in low stakes tourneys often expect for around the final table. I'll do the move with high cards. Lol JT is a high card for me. I really like doing it with suited connectors and medium PPs. So basically my whole range.

I do remember jamming a A3Jr board with 94o and I got snapped off by KJ in a live donkament for a final table bubble bust. I'll do them on big big little boards, coordinated boards, paired boards, 3-flush low card boards, but never high coordinated and high coordinated 3-flush boards. Basically I'll jam 87%+ boards so I don't sweat the boards where I call and check fold.

on an AJT board tho, what folds?
  8. started to do it more lately and i m pretty happy about how it works
basically whenever i feel like i have no fold equity, and i m short, and i have a somewhat decent hand
