  2. Wow....

    Now that IS difficult.

I think if you decide to play 6th Street, then I think you have to commit.

If you call, then you have to put more in the pot. Duke could have two pair, given his 3rd raise. (A hidden PP.) But its close.

A laydown would be a VERY disciplined play, and probably good a lot of the time.

You have to make an assesment on the hand before calling on 6th. A call old is pretty weak.

Tough situation man. Get a read on any of them?
  3. Yep, that's very tough.

First, I realize it's $3 HORSE, so getting anyone to fold isn't impossible, but it is standing right next to it. However, it also means your opponents are more likely to have some surprising garbage in the hole. Thus and therefore...........

Raise 4th. You're second to act, charge those clowns behind you and the clown in front playing a high only hand. Make them make the mistake of cold calling 2 bets. You're showing a very scary board, one or two might actually fold. meh

Assuming things stay the same on 5th, as in no one folds, it'll probably check to you. Here's where you see where you are. If you bet the made low will raise and reveal itself, so you'll know who it is, and it'll cost you two bets. If you check the made low will bet, showing the same thing but saving you one bet. If no one is made it'll check around. By raising 4th you saved yourself 2 big bets on 5th. Assuming everything stays the same to 6th you can now call down.

As hard as it is to call 6th, I think you have to. You've still got outs to help you on 7th, and it's no sure thing that you're not good for half here already.
  4. duke48 completed on 3rd street (his most likely holding is split [Q]'s with a kicker).
duke48 he pairs his door card on 4th street now he most likiely has trips. Since you have a bad low draw [8], you should fold since you are going for have the pot. Many of the low cards to complete your wheel are falling in other hands.

You contiinued until sixth street and the the only card that will assure that you collect any money is a [4] or maybe a [6]. You're beat for low if penagpam has a [3],[4],[7]. Since no [4] is on board it's a good bet that he has a [4]. If you don't read signs and fold on sixth street, you'll be going home because you'll probably drawing to 1/2 of the low if you catch a [4]. I don't think you can count on gettiing the high.

If you call the raise on 6th street you will need to call off 7th for the odds, even if you go broke.

You should have folded on 3rd street in stead of completing after duke48's raise.
  5. fold 3rd?? against a clown playing high only, with a sooted 3 low?? way too tight for a $3 turny.
  6. thanks for the replies.

no reads on anyone, but i really don't think getting a read on this hand is all that important. for the most part, in small stakes stud when you're in a multi-way pot... the cards do all the talking. with that said, i just can't see duke playing the way he did on 6th without having a boat. he played strong through the whole hand, so for him to just have 2 pair would be so attrocious (not impossible in a $3 tourney, but highly doubtful). seemed to me that i ws only plying for the low, and penangpam's raise on 6th made it pretty obvious that he/she had at least a decent made low... 8 at the worst, and even then i'm drawing slim to beat him/her (plus some of my wheel outs were obviously gone). so...i just gave it up and said whatever... i still had over 6K in chips which is still enough to make a run with.

and to the idea of just folding on 3rd... why? to one raise? i have 3 low cards (yeah, the 8 isn't great) and only 2 other diamonds are out on 4th street. given the structure of these small HORSE tournies, you HAVE to try to build your stack in situtions like this.
