  1. Not really a fan of these hands like 67 78 89 910 for a few reasons.

Say your delt 910 off or suited deoesn't matter and some decides to raise if they have Jx Qx Kx Ax odds are against you and you obv. dont have the best hand so you should fold

Say your delt 67 suited and someone trys to bluff you..... even if they have Q2 your still behind and you dont have the best hand so you should fold.

Basically if your never going to be ahead going to the flop and a coin flip at best

Reasons why I don't play these overrated hands.

I try to get my money in with the best hand every time so I always have the edge and the odds to win

In my mind playing hands like 7 high 8 high 9 high 10 high is just BAD POKER

    LET THE DEBATE begin
  2. You don't play suited connectors because they are the best hand. You play them because you usually will know where you're at when the flop comes, so you aren't going to lose any money unless the flop hits you.

And most importantly, they are a disguised hand, especially if YOU raise with them preflop. If the flop hits you hard, and your opponent hits something like top pair or something, then you're going to make a lot of money usually. People generally can't put you on those types of hands.
  3. they play well in multiway pots and not every flop is AJQ, if played correctly (more profitably in position), you can extract alot of chips on a very strong flop such as a flopped straight, combo draw like openend straight flush, trips, or 2pr w/ one broadway.

  5. "I try to get my money in with the best hand every time so I always have the edge and the odds to win"

That is why I play suited connectors. Because after limping in cheap, and having the flop hit them very hard, the "best" hand always pays me off nice.
  6. Obv wants to give this thread a run for its money:

  7. I dont like the fact that if somone raises with AK why call them with eight high or nine high.

There would be alot less bad beats in hold'em if people got out when they were beat

  8. You do realize that a flush or a straight beats a pair, set, or two pair, don't you?
  9. Are we being leveled here?
  10. Because A K is only a 60-40 favorite versus 8 9.

P.S. If you really feel this way, maybe we should deal everybodys' hole cards face up.
  11. ...

  12. plz be kidding obv joke post plz.

    plz?
  13. I have to agree with OP. People should only be playing pocket aces and should always min raise with them so we know that they have them. Please fold all other cards. Thanks
  14. While the OP sounds kinda meh, I couldn't agree more. In my opinion, suited connectors are the most overplayed overrated "type" of hand in poker.
  15. I'm just saying you should't being playing 8 high when 92 has you beat

  16. Who told you to play sooted connectors in a RAISED pot? You want to get in cheap, like with low pocket pairs, and if you hit you clean up. If you miss, you're done with them.
  17. I think AA is the only hand that should ever be played its sfobv
  18. <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>"I think AA is the only hand that should ever be played its sfobv"

You can play KK too, unless someone has min raised in front of you, then it is a clear fold. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
  19. because once the preflop action is done, everyone always checks down, and 87 is only drawing to 6 pair outs. now i'm following...
  20. ^^^ LAG
  21. i hope this is a serious post cause this = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  22. The beauty of playing and/or raising with suited connectors is the obvious deception. Wouldn't you rather see 4 or 5 call a 3x raise from UTG with suited connectors than when you would with AA or KK. That's why I hate AA or KK from UTG.
  23. if i put someone on a high pocket pair, ill sometimes call to crack them. most people overvalue overpairs, and TPTK hands, and if i hit my hand/draw then imma make them busto!

learn to play some omaha, thatll teach u how to play holdem alot better.
  24. Suited conectors make me giddy
  25. Too many people do things like limp/call pre with suited connectors, and fold to most cont bets. I don't mind playing those sort of hands but I always like to come into the pot raising.

  26. Poker isn't just a pre-flop game. I like to call raises preflop with all kinds of hands because intermediate/bad players can't fold their broadway hands when I do hit. The concept of implied odds is a relatively basic poker concept that needs to be learned by anyone who wants to be a long term winner in the game.

  27. Whether you call or raise makes little difference. If you think when you hit a hand with a suited connector you will get paid off then do so. Otherwise it is stupid to call/raise with these hands.

    A. Opponent cant lay down top pairs
    B. Will fold when you bet a big draw
    C. The table thinks you are a raising/donk and will definetely pay you off
  28. I don't understand why there are so many people flaming the OP. Most of the stuff he is saying is 100% correct and is actually valuable information.

While he didn't present his argument very intelligently, he is correct. Q2 is going to make the best hand more often than 76 - which people do not understand. You shouldn't be playing suited connectors for value.
  29. "Q2 is going to make the best hand more often than 76"

The best hand more often really doesn't matter. When Q2 makes a hand, 76 is easy to get rid of and Q2 wins a small pot. When 76 makes a hand, Q2 will often pay it off.

infrequent 100bb large pot >>> bunch of 3bb pots
  30. No, calling with them is a leak for most players because:

    1. You don't get paid off as often as you think you will.
    2. You often don't have the implied odds you think you have.
