  1. Short version - Haven't played much poker online over the past year and a half or so (took time away to focus on business/family).
I never played a ton of volume, but when I was more involved I did well for the little bit I did play, but that was a couple years ago.
Started taking it more serious over the last couple weeks and have done ok (won a couple 180s etc).

Won a seat in the Sunday Mil tonight.

I haven't played in big buy-in MTTs since a couple years ago, I've been playing $2-$10 BI MTTs.

I assume I can unregister and use the T$s for smaller MTTs. So do I take a shot at the Mil or just play smaller BIs?
  2. It depends. If you are trying to build up bankroll on stars I'd suggest taking he TDs but if money isn't an issue why not take a shot? The million is a donkfest though so TDs would be best. I'd take the tds and play two hundys or a few 50s.
  3. I think you should finish 13th in the million instead.

  4. Yes, take the shot.

  5. Take the shot.

Just do your best to not play too timid given the higher buy-in, (as has been an issue for me in the past.)
  6. The situation you just described is the perfect storm for a deep run in the milly. Just be prepared for everyone on the forum to accuse you of multi accounting when you ship it. GLGL.

  7. It's really a personal decision. If you have the roll to take the shot and play the million and sitll have the BI's for your normal level then what the hell take the shot.
  8. the answer to these things is really always no, but most poker players are gamblers at heart, so thats why u see a lot of yeses.

  9. I asked this question when I won a seat to the Warm Up a few months ago!

I took the shot and didnt cash but it was a good experience and it was just a donkfest at the start...

Busted with AQ < A5 but ...oh well!

IMO Take the shot and ship it!
  10. Thx for the advice. Another question for HSMTT regs: Which of the Sunday $200 MTTs is the softest? I assume the million b/c of ppl like me that satty'd in but I want the opinion of someone that plays them all regularly.

I really never play sattys but I decided to play this one b/c my family is out of town which will give me the opportunity to play on Sunday (which I normally can't). Once I won the seat I started thinking about playing like 4-6 smaller BI MTTs instead.

Here's where I'm at right now...
As long as I've played poker I've never really taken a shot and played outside my bankroll (at least not by any significant amount) and I fully understand the consequenses. However, I never have the opportunity to play a full schedule on Sunday so I'm going to take a shot one way or the other. I'll either use the T$ to play the warm up or the million and then play 5-6 MTTs in the $20-$50 range or I'll play 8-10 MTTs from $20-$150. If anyone has any opinion on which plan would give me better chance let me know.

Maybe I'll make a deep run in one. If I do I'll come back and update this thread. Thx again for the responses.

    the mill no brainer

  12. About 2 or 3 years ago, I won an entry to the Million through a satellite through this site. I was unsure as if I should play the Million or not, as well. I decided to play and ended up taking 50th place for $2,200, I believe. Not only was it a nice chunk of change for someone with a limited bankroll, but I considered it a valuable experience as well. It also provided me with my worst bad beat story. As I top 10 stack, I got it all in with another top 10 stack. I had K's and he had J's. He spiked a J on the turn on me. I still think about what could have been possibly : ( .
  13. You lose 100% of the shots you don't take.

the TDs might be the best but this wouldn't be a reason for it except in the bizzaro-world.
  15. As others have said, DEF. take the shot. The scenario is perfect. Ship that motherfucker!
  16. The guy who shipped the sunday mil a few weeks ago had like 14$ total prizes, so imo play it and run like Husein bolt to the finish line my man!
  17. I'd say just play in it. Sounds like a great opportunity for you with your family out of town this weekend. Shipppppp it!
  18. I wouldn't waste the $. I don't mean that in a mean way, I just mean I think its smarter to play the smaller MTTs.
  19. What was your intention when you registered for the satellite? I assume it was to play...so play.

  20. Not sure there Graps.... A lot of people play the rebuy satties cause they are good at feeders. Some do it to turn and burn TD's.
  21. it's just better not to play, your bankroll can't handle the variance. 215 in TD is the same as 215 in real money if u r gonna play 215 tournament dollars anyways.

Then the question is, would i pay 215 to play any tournament with your bankroll and the answer is always no.

This is all assuming you are undecided.

  22. ship the milly and welcome the nice ROI

  23. I have mixed feelings. My bankroll calculation spreadsheet will always tell me to take the TDs.

But as an amateur player, sometimes you should do things for the fun and enjoying the experience.

Ask yourself this: Let's say in the first hour and you get your money in preflop with AA against something stupid like J9 preflop and your aces get cracked. Will your first thought be, "I got my money in good but AA isn't donk proof." Or will it be "i can't believe i just wasted $215 TD." If it's the first, then play then the tourney. If it's the second, then you're too worried about the money and you should bank the TDs.

  24. I appreciate all the feedback... I decided to take the only Sunday I might have for a while and play a full schedule of GTDs along with the million.

Since I got some input from the community I decided to post my schedule and results.
Not that I think anybody cares much but b/c I had input from some ppl here and it might help me stay focused knowing I've commited to posting results.

I might change this schedule a little if I go deep in anything or just how things go overall...

    All on stars
    9:00 $12k
    10-12 Warm-Up sattys
    12:15 $25k
    1:00 $20k
    2:00 $40k
    2:15 $60k
    3:00 $300k
    3:15 $20k
    3:30 $250k
    4:30 Million

Anyway, thanks for all of your opinions and good luck to all...

  25. Pumped for my first Sunday playing a full day!!! Feeling good and have been playing good poker... I'm going deep in something today!

I think I'm gonna play the warm-up instead of the million. Mostly b/c of how late the million starts.

Let's do this bish!!! GL today everybody!!!

Oh, I know, Diss. There's lots of reasons to play satellites. MonkeyCowboy's article on using them as bankroll builders was one of the best articles ever written on P5s, IMO.

But I never minded someone taking a shot as long as they don't make it a habit or change any of their other buy-in rules. IMO, if the OP bought in to expressly play in the Million, then he should play the Million. Second-guessing yourself is MUCH worse than taking a shot.

  27. I say take tourney dollars and grind and destroy the micro or low MTTs instead man. Get a nice bankroll and then maybe take some shots at high mtts.
