Hello all,
I thought I'd make a helpful guide to those who might be on the fence of whether or not to pursue SuperNova Elite Status on pokerstars.
The numbers at first to appear quite complex, and they are. But I'll try to make a table here to help everyone get a better gage of what it takes to hit Elite, and the perks you will recieve in doing so.
ELITE STATUS REQUIRES: $200,000 Paid in Rake (each Tournament $1 = 5 VPP)
MONTHLY REQUIREMENTS (assuming two months off for holidays and vacations): $20,000Rake/month
MONTHLY ($20,000 Paid in Rake)
= 4,000 $55+5s
= 2,222 $105+9s
= 1,333 $210+15s
= 1,000 $315+20s
POSSIBLE COMBINATION
= 1,000 $55+5s ($5,000)
= 500 $105+9s ($4,500)
= 300 $210+15s ($4,500)
= 250 $315+20s ($5,000)
= $19,000/MONTH
--
For the purpose of keeping things a bit simpler, I'm going to assume the person striving for Elite Status will be already Supernova Status by January 1st, 2009. Here are the FFP, VPP, and BOP numbers.
Assuming the Elite Chaser plans to hit Elite, no matter what - is very key. The %'s do not necessarily work unless the said person actually hits 1,000,000 VPP.

ELITE STATUS ENTITLES YOU TO:

3.5 Million FFPs
By doing a formula that is quite simple, we can figure out the cash value of these points.
250,000 FPPs = $4,000 (FFP Store)
3,500,000/250,000 = $56,000
So, knowing that we can figure out how how many each FPP is actually worth in dollars.
$1 = 62.5 FPPs
1 FPP = 1.6 Cents
Keep in mind, if you plan on releasing the bonuses as soon as you hit 250,000 FPPs - you will need to earn 28,000 VPP (or $5,600 Rake Paid).
*This is how Pokerstars is able to offer you these bonuses. You actually end up paying PokerStars more money than they are giving you, by initially earning it. And the cycle continues -
By Fully Earning off a $4,000FFP Bonus, you earn 98,000 FPPs in the process (or the FFPStore equivalent of $1,568)
=98,000 x 0.016

As you can start to see, you are almost constantly working off $4,000 bonuses throughout the year. If you follow the $20,000 Rake Paid/Month schedule, you will earn 350,000 FPPs every month, or about $5,600(ish), in FPPs rewards alone.

1 Million VPPS
You hit 7 cash Milestone Rewards by hitting Elite, combining for a total of $38,000. You also recieve approximately $15,200 in other bonuses, + the fact that you're Elite, and therefore badass.)
$2,000 @ 200,000 VPPs
$3,000 @ 300,000 VPPs
$4,000 @ 400,000 VPPs
$5,000 @ 500,000 VPPs
$6,000 @ 600,000 VPPs
$8,000 @ 800,000 VVPs
$10,000 @ 1,000,000 VPPs (+$5,200 WCOOP Buy-in + $10,000 Entry to Live Tournament)
Keep in mind, you also need to work off these Bonsuses as well. Stars impliments a Dollar for Dollar return for these, however. Each bonus amonut (eg. $6,000) is earned off once you spend $6,000 in Rake Paid.
Knowing that we can only pay off one bonus at a time, Stars forces us to pay off:
FFP Buy Out Rate - $5,600
VPP Buy Out Rate - Par
FPP Credits (3.5M/250,000) - 14
VPP Credits - 7
14 x 5,600 = $78,400
7 x Par = $38,000
TOTAL RE-RAKE PAID = $116,400.
However, because you will be earning off bonuses at seperate times - the FPP ($) amount does not apply here. Meaning, you don't actually end up paying $316,400 in rake throughout the year. Still only around $200,000ish, (more towards the end of the quest.)
SO... The final "easy on the eyes" numbers would be for a person who achieves Elite Status would be. And for arguments sake, let's use a player who makes on average, about half the rake amount in $ in profit. (Eg: $55+5 player earns $2.50 per SNG. Please not that this is not exactly an amazing player, but decent enough for our example.)
Lets also assume this player averages about $1,000 in BOP Bonuses per month.
PROFIT: $100,000
FPP $: $58,000
VPP $: $38,000
BOP $: $10,000
TOTAL 2009 PROFIT: $206,000 + WCOOP Ticket + WSOP (or others) Ticket

For a break even player, just take away the Profit, and you're still looking at Six Figures.

Why is this based on 10 months? I think I'm missing something here.
-
nice post man
-
Now how easy is it for a break-even player to play 4000 $50s or even 2223 $100s per month and still maintain?
Playing 5 days a week that is ~160 SNGs/day(13hrs/day at 12tbles) at $55s .......or 89 SNGs/day(7.5hrs/day at 12tbles). For a full time player this would be easily doable. However, a break even player is generally only a part-time player and this would be very tough. But I suppose I break even player could swith to full time for an easy $200k+/yr.
Interesting breakdown though gidders, your obv still my favorite player. -
Dont forget also when you become supernova elite, you get 5 fpp for every fpp you get for the rest of the year and next year assuming you continue to play.
-
huge thing missing here! You actually get TWO major tourney buy ins in ADDITION to the wcoop seat, or one buy in and an extra 10,000. So add a sexy 10k to all the profit that was talked about. BTW, I'm already gearing up for a supernova elite 2009. Watch out peeps.
-
I would guess that most Supernova Elites are multi table cash game players. Much easier to grind out FPP's at the cash tables than in MTT's.
-
How many players do you think are actually Supernova Elite?
-
if you play 40 hours per week....what is the lowest cash NL game that you can play and earn 3mil FPPs in 12 months (for the cayman)??...
I dont find the calculator on the stars website to be very accurate -
...and even easier to grind FPP in SNGs
-
It is easier to grind FPP in sngs if you play higher stakes. But you can make supernova elite at .5/1 cash full ring....with a 5k bankroll, don't know if you could do it w 5k bankroll for sngs $100 turbos
-
-- I incorporated that. I included the $10,000 cash reward as the 1,000,000 VPP reward prize. Might as well take the cash, and decide what you want to do with it yourself.

this year i started out with the intention of going for nova elite the 1st 2 months i was up almost 30k and the 3rd was my biggest losing month ever i think which was between 6-7k then i decided not to bother since it was just to many hours that your forced to play daily and playing either a certain minimum hands or min sngs is tough day in day out... fast forward 6 months later when i switched to tournies halfway through the year and ive final tabled 2 big tournies ive put in volume but not nearly as much as i did for the intention of nova elite and it is soooo ez to burn out and hate the game doing it.... i guess if i had to do it to know id make 150k or more next year if my game failed it consider it but youll just hate life so id strongly suggest you really put some thought into realizing its unfort not as ez as it sounds and working on your game and playing your a game is much more import long term then playing abc poker every day
