  1. Recently i've hit somewhat of a bad swing in cash game and kinda want to take a break from it.

I want to play MTTs but am not very good at it. hardly make the money because of either my bad play or suckouts every now and then. (prob due to my bad play)

Whats a good way to get better at MTTs? what are some good things to play to learn that. I play on FTP btw and have been a winning cash game player at NL25
  2. read all the articles on here and www.sngplanet.com , and remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
  3. 1. Have a bank roll for 100x to 200x the buy-in you will be playing.

    2. Play lots of volume because MTT variance is high.

    3. You might start by playing some MT-SNGs to get used to the variance and figure out stack-to pot stituations and stack building strategies. Try the 45's, 90's & 180's for practice.

    4. Variance increases exponential to the size of the field so start out with small fields, unless you are a lucky card-rack.

    5. Screw your emotional control down because you will face lots of suck-outs.

If you've been playing NL25, you probably have BR of $400 to $600. You could probably get your feet wet in some of the $2.20 to $5.50 games for MT-SNGs to experience the variance.

You'll probably decide that cash games are better unless you adjust to the stretches of no cashes MTT or MT-SNGs.

  4. winning cash players have potential to be great mtt players imo. they already have a great poker mind and with some help can have a huge edge in deep stack situations. however they are completely different games and there's alot of tournament fundamentals u would learn much faster with a coach. I would find a good one, i know jennifear gives lessons, definately worth the $$ if youre serious about the switch. GL
