I was wondering, should you talk at tables?
Like when someone says nice hand, should you respond and be nice?
Or be the "tight solid quiet explosive player" -
smart ass

I love talking at tables. Shit, it's a social game.
Obviously, be careful what you say and when (which is what I struggle with) but why not try and endear yourself to people? -
super level?

He's absolutely right. I can usually tell the strength of a person's hand based on whether or not they reply, and how quickly. If I make a stab at the pot on 5th avenue and they reovershove back at me, I'll fold and say "nh" (that means 'nice hand'). If they reply very quickly, then I know that they were bluffing and were nervously happy that I folded. If they wait a while to reply, then I know that they probably had a pair or a straight draw. If they don't reply, I immediately make a player note to ensure that I am aware of them in the future. Usually something referencing their style of play, like "Highly Offense Minded Opponent", or HOMO for short.

not that there's anything wrong with that
