which countries have the highest and lowest gambling taxes?
a site or something to go to would do fine as an answer also -
don't feel so bad... in April I'm going to be forced to pay taxes on stock market gains that I don't really have!
I made large gains in the stock market between March and October and will have to pay 25% cap gains tax on them. Then I established new positions in late September. During the downturn in the market over the last two weeks I took massive hits to my current positions, effectively wiping out 60% of the previous gains.
Heres the catch: due to "wash sale" rules, and the fact that I don't want to sell out of my current underwater positions, I'm going to have to pay taxes on gains that I really don't have anymore. Basically I'll have to come out of pocket to pay taxes on gains that have been subsequently wiped out. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Oh and to answer your question, I thought they don't pay gambling tax in the UK? Pretty sure that would be #1. I'd go out on a limb and guess that U.S. laws are the worst and UK laws are the best.
