We have all heard brag posts and success stories, but what are some of the others? For example how bad you ran your bankroll down to nothing...How much have you lost and how did it all happen.

$57,238.82, I was a serious gambling degen for a while, I maxed out all of my credit cards, spent my life savings (approx. $826.87, unfortunately most of it was credit cards) and ended up working at a subway to rebuild my BR.
edit: JK, I actually caught a pretty sweet break early, I had been donking it up in the $1 frezeouts on like a $50 roll when I scored a sweet chop for like $200, I decided to throw caution to the wind and take my newfound Fortune to the big Sunday tourney hoping to parlay my 1$ into 100K the easy way, I didn't win but won a little over a grand. The short version of my story:
In Sept. 2005, I decided to try online poker. WIthin a couple of months, I had won a tourney ($3900) and racked up a few FT's and several other $$$ finishes. I was probably up about 5K US.
Then, I started reading about poker. I read Brunson, Gordon, Negreanu, Sklansky, Action Dan's trilogy and many articles on P5's, 2+2, etc. I started browsing Strategy sections in various sites and participated in discussions/arguments, always trying to look at the bigger picture and take something valuable away from the discussion, whether it was concept related or the analysis of some betting pattern/error I was making, board reading, you name it...
Since I started reading, I have pretty much shoved that entire 5K back into other epople's pockets. I know some of it has to do with BR management, but it's getting ridiculous trying to reason out all of my other losses, tourney knockouts, etc.

I jumped into online poker as soon as I heard about it. My BR management was awesome when I first started out on stars. Then I turned into a retard and played way out of my limits, I've had my BR well over 5K several times and blown it on ridiculous tilt sessions.
Overall I'd say 15K in the negative. I would've given up a long time ago, but I refuse to quit, when I know I can be good at this game, as long as I remain patient and focused, something I work on everyday. What makes it easier? I work with an annoying bitch who doesn't stop talking, so she helps me practice staying away from tilt. -
Well I started about 4-5 years ago playing freerolls and $5 homegames with my friends. They all knew I was horrible and tilted easily so they were quick to invite me. After about a year of consitently losing I decided to try my luck at some online freerolls. One of the first ones I entered I placed 1st of 12000 for $134. It wasn't long before I realized that online money can go alot faster and less painful than realy money so I was quick to lose that micro roll. After grinding out $20-$50 deposits for the next few months I hit a decent win in the $20 000 guaranteed and took 3rd for about $2000.00. I was ecstatic and decided to buy a few books. I initially planned on cashing out the whole roll but quickly realized it wasn't possible as I was only 16 at the time. I decided to go for broke at started playing cash. After winning a few $400-$500 pots I realized I could make a job at playing poker. I was wrong because Ihad no BR management skillz and quickly donked off the $2000.00 after a few bad beats and some 5/10 nl. After about a years break and a birthday that made me finally legal and several reading sessions later I decided I would give a shot at MTT's. I deposited $100 at the first of the semester on stars during University and grinded through hours of class playing low MTT's. At the end of the year I had a roll of $11,000 and decided to cash it to focus on exams and buy a nice car. I didn't expect neteller to shut down and since then have been playing with FPPS to get my roll back to $400 haha. And that's where I stand now.

I have been playing poker longer than most of you kids have been alive. I started playing when I was a brakeman on the railroad - this was back when trains had cabooses. I'd usually play 5 card draw with one of the engineers, the conductor, and a passenger or two. The games were always very shady, and I got in many a fisticuffs in that time. The worst I ever saw was when the crew put the leather to this young drifter that tried to deal off of the bottom of the deck. They beat that kid within an inch of his life and then threw him off a trestle as we rumbled on into the night. Never knew if he lived or not.
One time, when we were running the old Union Pacific line through San Antonio, we stopped over for the night and I ended up at a barroom game in some backroads dive. I did OK, but one of the locals was just unbeatable. Doyle Brunson. Even back then he was a bit of a legend. Most people don't know that Doyle had a backer that paid for all of his early gambling. Apparently, he was roommate with Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas Cowboys) when he played sports in college. He took Jones for so much money during his college years that Jones swore he would back Doyle if he wanted to play for a living. Fortunately, Jones' family had made a shit-ton of money smuggling Mexicans into the states, so he had the funds to bankroll Doyle. Anyway, after playing with me that night, Doyle offered to take me back to his hotel and talk poker. I gladly obliged and headed out with him at the end of the night. Needless to say, when we got back to the hotel, the last thing he wanted to do was talk about poker. He is a big guy, and I thought I was going to have to give in, but I saw an opportunity and was able to ninja kick him in the knee while he was trying to order up some Spankervision on the TV. I haven't seen him since, but I hear has still has a limp.
Ever since then, I only play in well lit senior citizen centers. I try to stick to PL Bingo and maybe some $10 cap Gin Rummy. It's safer that way.
See you at the tables. -
It all started for me when I was in a stars $20/180 in the middle of 2006 and had GBMantis at my table. He put me all in on 2nd hand and he flipped over AA to my KK and I lost the hand. Haven't been the same player or person since....:).
