I am not a super-active member of the community, although I read every day. I just wanted to thank PocketFives for all the help. Had my 2nd biggest score to date last night and honestly without this site it wouldn't have happened. Here are a few things that I think can help anyone at any level:
1) don't ever get mad about a bad beat. only get mad at yourself if you make a bad play, and only use the anger as motivation to remember the mistake so as not to do it again.
2) mental toughness is everything (obv maven is right). no matter how many times you get knocked down, bad beat, out-raced...don't let it get you down. Be like wax paper and let is roll off of you like water.
3) there are millions of ways to improve your game. Be proactive. If you aren't getting better, you are getting worse.
4) thinking of chips in terms of big blinds in key for me personally. I have been playing alot of S&G volume lately and it has given me this valuable insight which is crucial for closing game.
5) mix up games (cash, sng, mtt, heads up). each has something to teach that applies to the others.
thanks again to all, from me and all the other lurkers.
ps, can poker stars PLESE give me the option of taking double or nothing's off of my SNG menu? these guys who sign up for 20 screw up the whole lobby. -
well to get rid of the double or nothings from the library you can uncheck 10 from max number of players per table. this would definitly get rid of the double or nothings. cant think of any other games off the top of my head that sit 10 at a table.
