thoughts on the gidders situation.... positive thoughts

    I as well have my own opinion on the gidders situation. As many people hate him an equal number love him and his strategies. Its hard to determine how long gidders has been studying the game but he knows most strategies and comes up with new good ones all the time. Although I do believe that it will be hard for him to continue to educate at the low limit levels for a long time. Eventually there are things that just one person from one set of poker can offer. Places like cr.com and rpt.com come from all walks of poker and all tourney styles. Gidders is a great player though don't get me wrong, but i think for his site to become truly succesful it needs to eventually branch to other walks of poker.

    Fortunatly for us low limit players the time of poker is now and gidders site offers the best quality discussion and videos for the best price. I will eventually be signing up and I hope other people do. I'm sure gidders will be expanding as well so there is no need to worry about what i said above.

    I think this controversy/situation/issue/whateverthefuckelseyouwanttocallit has been viewed from every angle known to mankind.

    But just when I thought I'd seen it all, another pocket 5er surprises me and finds a new twist; the diversity of the site and its ability to survive.

    Here we go:

    We in the US have become accustomed to this lifestyle of "one-stop shoping." Now provided I'm not Paris Hilton, or Bill Gates (although I have read an article that gates goes to Vegas and plays BJ, but NEVER plays more than $5 a hand, maybe he is included amongst the rest of us too), then we go to wall mart because its cheap, and convenient. Is there anything I can't get at wal mart? The last generation had to go to a multitude of store to cover the weekly needs (simpler times).

    So what does this have to do with the post? It seems that as convenient as the internet is, people are probably not going to want to sign up for a sng site, a cash game site, a mtt site, a heads up site, a black female attorney site, etc. So I think you make a valid point; he is going to have to diversify if he hopes to maintain his original base of members (because I think it can be assumed that once these people "build their bankroll with gidders.com" they will move on to bigger and better poker). Of course new people will come to replace them, but it seems that at some point diversity would become key to the site's survival.

    However on the other side of the coin, if you think about it, the premise behind the site is to help one build one's bankroll. So maybe it can be assumed that people will come and go. In that case, I'm not so sure if diversity would be necessary (like the occasional mom and pop shop that just sells that great tasting grease burger. When people want the grease burger, they will go there; when they want something else, or move on to a healthier diet, they will go elsewhere, and the younger, more metabolic crowd will take their place. This might be the worst analogy in the history of mankind).

    So I think the site could survive without diversifying, but I think if it ever desires to entrench itself in the upper echelons of internet poker site success/stardom, it will be forced to diversify, or give way to the sites that do.

    I know I have been regarded as hateful in my responses, but seriously, for the love of christ people, please stop FUCKING POSTING ON THIS SUBJECT. I am begging you. Why do you think that your opinions deserve their own individual threads. Paramount why didn't you add this to the bottom of the 42 other threads concerning Gidders today. For the last week everyone has been obsessed with him, and it is honestly the most annoying thing I've ever seen in my life.

    I'm not going to explain myself to another person. If you want to know my story dig through my old posts. To make a long story short, I haven't had a vacation in umpteen years, so I am taking 2 weaks off just to be a lazy fuck.

    I enjoy discourse, as it is how I make my living, so if I can sit here at my computer, drink booze, and keep my head sharp with no string attached, why not? I don't have any family; no desire to see my friends right now, and I can play poker at the same time (imagine that).

    Isn't it ironic that you respond nearly as quickly?

    Don't worry, in 2 weeks you probably won't see me for another 10 years.

    who cares about this subject honestly? if you do, you are wasting valuable time that could be spent improving your game. if you buy it great, if you don't...that's fine too but let him be whatever the fuck he wants to be...it's america
