just throwing this out to see what you all have to say. subject came up in a previous thread from a player looking for advice about the ABI they were playing and if they should try to get backed or not. From sources available, it looked strongly like the player was playing ABI above where their skill should be and had posted several $K in losses. I found it funny that a player with stats that appear to make them look weak would be asking if they should look into being backed for bigger buy-in tourneys. however, i personally am not backed, nor do i have any horses out there. it got me thinking...what makes a good horse for all you backers? and when should a player consider being backed themselves? the only obvious things that come to find for either are
a.) its a friend, so being backed or backing is more fun than buisness
b.) its a proven player with strong history of consistency
anyway, if anyone's got some thoughts/experience, it would be interesting to hear.
