How do you pick off timing tells when your opponent is 5+ tabling..?
-
the faster they bet the more likely they have a strong hand. but like bef said they aren't everything
-
I realise they arent everything, but on the subject of timing tells, does this even come into effect when you're mting..?
-
Are timing tells really a big part of your decision making process? I mean, in general I guess people tend to bet faster on a cbet when they miss than when they hit a big hand but I dont think that its really that big a deal.
I actually purposely wait a few extra seconds when I check raise bluff people to try to make it look like I have a bigger decision to make with my big hand. Not sure it really has any effect but it just shows that timing tells arent really that useful.
The only timing tell that I give any credence to is when someone sits and waits like 20 seconds and then makes a huge all in raise or something. Of course most of my decision even in these spots is based on the size of the raise and my hand and all of the other more important factors than on the timing. -
i understand waht youre saying but at the same time, i dont think you're looking for the timing tells youve read out of a book... figuring out a timing tell on your opponent is more what im talking about.. for example, you said you purposely wait a few extra seconds to check raise bluff.. figuring this out as your opponent is what im speaking of.. Can this imformation be used profitably when youre mting..

i just kinda thought of this, but i feel like if someone acts faster than usual, a decent amount of time this means they might already have had a pre-planned action or a made hand (very generally speaking of course)
also, if someone is 5-6 tabling and gets a big hand, they will probably be watching that hand closer and paying more attention to that table at the time, therefore most likely knowing what they are going to be doing next
i know whenever i flop a set/get a monster while multi-tabling i usually am watching that table closely and paying a lot more temporary attention to it, which might mean without noticing i act a bit faster than if i was calculating the size of my bluff
with that being said, i've also seen several (bad) players turbo jam after missing draws when the pot is big enough, etc. so that kinda skews the previous point a bit
idk im tired but that kinda just came to mind -
Use pokertableratings.com to see the player's win rate before you start using timing tells at cash tables.

Typically, a player acts fast it's a cbet or a draw, a player waits it out to check or bet, it's a big hand, or a long pause c-raise is a big hand as well. Remember none of these tells are the end-all be-all, and plenty of good cash players will exploit the typical moves. -
funny thread...

I will say that I find the waiting thing when I bluff on a check raise to be huge. I dont let it run down to the timer or anything , but I make sure to at least pause a good 5-10 seconds after opponent bets and then I reraise. I really have noticed that when i check raise really quickly I get called or reraised waaay more often. Also, when I cbet really quick I get called a bit more ( or it seems that way) so I have been making sure even while multitabling to pause at least 5 seconds before I cbet so as to not make it look like I knew I was cbetting before I even saw the flop.
So, essentianly for me, I try to avoid having timing tells, and sonetimes try to use commonly percieved timing tells to my advantage, but I dont put too much stock in other players timing. I'm looking a lot more at opponent hand range, smaller than usual bet amount, and board texture when I am trying to decide whether to bluff an opponent.
