  2. I'll hop in here because I know Adam's passed out already. We've known Bruce for quite a while - first met him and Moneymaker at a tourney in Tunica about a year ago. Great guy. Bruce actually won that tourney and over 10K, so we believed his claims that he taught Money how to play in college. (for those that don't know we're talking about Bruce Perry, Moneymaker's college roommate that now travels a lot with him).

There's a funny story about that tourney that he won that he and I have retold a few times - He and a woman arrived at my first table at the same time and they had been mistakenly assigned the same seat. He let the lady have the assigned seat and he took the empty one beside her. Literally 30 seconds later a cocktail waittress trips and spills a full tray of beverages, soaking the lady that took Bruce's seat and pretty much missing Bruce entirely.

I couldn't believe what I'd seen, but it gets even worse. This woman had already paid her buy-in fee and wanted to play so she took off one layer and stuck around. The very first hand of the tournament she turns the nut straight with K10 on a board of AQXxJx. She bets, is raised, pushes all in and is called by K10. The river is the 3, sending her home on the very first hand. At least she could change clothes. Bruce, however, goes on to get great cards. I remember he took a pretty big pot off me when he flopped a boat with Pocket Jacks when I'd flopped Trip Aces with AQ. He built up an enormous stack at our table and coasted through to the Final table, which he took down the next day.

This is really something to think about - it's amazing how different your tournament can turn out if you start out sitting just one seat over.

  4. The tourney we met Bruce and Money at was actually around the end of April 2004. It was a $240 buy in, I believe, and there were something like 200 people in it. It was my biggest live tournament at the time, and I somehow managed to get 12th in it. I got busted by Bruce (who else?) after he sat on my immediate left for 3 hours with a massive chip stack. I can't think off the top of my head who Nathan is, but I bet we have met him too. And yes, Bruce is a funny guy...
