1st through 4th get a seat. 5th gets a little money. 6 of us left. The more I think about it the stupider I feel. is this a resonable steal attempt, too agressive, or just idiotic?

Imo it was a little too aggressive. maybe a 3-4 times raise is ok here. your third in chips and there is no reason to risk you whole stack. i do like the raise but def that not that much. if he RR you can fold no problem. if he calls on flop the ace should scare you away from the hand immediately.
-
Well that's interesting but I wasn't very concerned with my raise SIZE. The blinds a huge and with his stack if I make it 3x BB he could 3-bet all-in and resteal with anything...right? More concerned with his calling range since I think he's folding most hands. Assuming he's been kinda active and not all that aggressive (Much preflop limping) but not knowing too much about him.

You have a lot to lose by making this play. BvB, short handed, he's 2nd ss, surely his range would include group3 (and up) hands + 88+/KQ/AJ.
As played, villian wakes up with a strong g2 hand vs.a (weak) g7 hand.
(This was a bad time to attempt a steal.) (when u had no reason to.) -
where do these groups come from? I have a good idea what you're saying but never heard of these groups. elaborate?

sklansky's hold'em poker for advanced players.
the rankings are more pertinent to a limit game. while they're useful for nl i think it's a mistake to get carried away and assessing nl strategy according to them... -
thats the funniest thing i've heard all day.

If the aggressive call is an advanced play...how about the aggressive check?
