  1. Lately I've been getting flatted behind in similar situations and stacks by players w/ AK and even less and I had been getting my money in good and then poof spike goes the Ace on the river or something else. That kind of influenced my play a bit.

There were about 27 players left. I had a pretty good feel for the table and when I got flatted behind I did believe their strength.

I raised up the way I did preflop believing that would define my hand to this table pretty well and that my stack was to big to just shove. I could have raised a bit more but didn't feel it necessary given the play at the table.

I've been told I should have shoved to induce a weaker hand to call and if I get a cooler then so be it. I'm not sure about that so comment on that please.

When I got flat called preflop as I said alarm bells went off but I talked myself into "playing for the win"! Meaning just get the chips in with a big hand and hope it is big enough. Ouch, should have listened to my read on this player.

I decided to bet out and call if I got shoved on since I've been seeing the old AK do that a few times in the past week or so and I've been getting advice to get all my chips in these situations.

    What do you think?

  2. hmmm,

28 big blinds does seem to large to be shoving with given the stacks at the table.

Even with a read when they flat called telling you you are beat I think it would still be tough not to get all the chips in on the flop.

I would most likely be shoving the flop
  3. bump

    could use some more feedback

  4. This seems like a tough spot, possibly a cooler at this stage in the tourny. I dont see how you can get away from the hand after the flop. The guys flat call shows strength, but Ive seen donkeys play 88-1010 the same way along with possibly AK for hands that you beat. AA, KK, JJ are hands that would play like this too. Id just mark this up as a cooler. I dont see what you could have done different. Tough spot, would like to hear more from others though.
  5. yeah,

This was tough for me and I've had various people tell me that I should be getting my chips in regardless of my read in this spot every time to chip up at this stage of the tourney.

In the past I have been able to get away from the hand if I had a similar stack and my read was that a big hand flatted me and they weren't bluffing.

In this case I knew darn well that my raise was good to define my hand at this table and if I didn't get flatted behind preflop I"m just looking to avoid an A or K on the flop. When I got flatted I'm thinking "Shit" I have 20 BB's left and that is plenty to fight with at this table and I need to improve on the flop or I should be done w/ the hand.

Then of course I ignored that thought and my read.
