Ok, this is the $4.40 1000 cap 8 max on stars. This is the final table and it just started so we're only 2 or 3 hands in so I have no reads on villain. Also, I should note that one player is sitting out and has been since final 2 tables from what I've seen but may be longer. Is this a spot where I lay this down because I have no read on the player and there is also a guy sitting out so I can guarantee 7th (not saying I want 7th but still maybe something to consider) or is it just a cooler where I have to jam. Also I am assuming I can't just flat the 3bet and take a flop with only 30bbs behind, is that also correct?
Thanks

I know it sucks cause AK looks really pretty and in most cases you'll be ahead or only slightly behind, but maybe flat and see a flop and fold if you really don't feel good about it.. You'd still have plenty of chips to play around with. You cerntainly ran into a tough hand and you're going to lose chips no matter what, but I don't think flatting the 3bet here is completely out of the question.

please not this. You'll have stuck in 1/3 your stack and be OOP. The only way this would ever make any sense to do is if you decided you were jamming all flops since you are first to act and would have the pot behind. I don't like that line, but I hate the flat and ck/fold on any flop you don't hit.

I agree with whoever said noway you can fold AKss here - especially because of the stack sizes, which is something noone has mentioned really.

we're playing to win the thing right? By shoving here there is some slight chance the guy folds to begin with. Assuming he doesn't then winning the hand puts us at 70bb (or more if we get 2 callers) and in a VERY strong 2d chip position to abuse the shorter stacks and play for the much bigger money. -
Can't fold but I swear to 8lb baby jesus that blockers don't exist anymore. I've ran AK into AA, KK, and AK so often the past few months that it's driving me insane.

Yes, Flatting the 3-bet here should be completely out of the question...

Going to play devils avocate here, your all saying, including one of my fav posters on here bonflizubi, that you have to get it in pre.
But is a shove the best option? Theres 3 smaller stacks on the table.
We've no reads which is difficult, so we assume hes a straight up player.
If we range him at 88+AJs+KQs+AKo, which I think is reasonable, were 50/50.
If we give him 99+ etc were 55/45 dog. Were 55/45 dog to 33 - QQ. AA were 7/1 dog, KK were 2/1 behind.
If were trying to get our money in good it dont look too great!
OK, like zubi said you may get a fold, which is an obvious +, but what are we fav to beat? AQ, AJ, KQ could be. KJ, QJ JT maybe.
Understand what your saying about gambling to win the tourney, but I for1 seem to be busting far too often shoving AK!
IDK, I think were getting our money in behind more often than good with AK & praying for a good result! thats what it feels like to me. -
So are you advocating r/f AKs with 31 bbs on a final table in a 4 dollar tourney? I hear what you are saying but you can easily go card dead and dwindle down ur options real fast. Lets just say you know it is 99+ here.......are we folding? You may as fold pre perhaps. Flatting? I was shocked to see that as an option but dude has had a score or two would love to hear the rationale behind that.

But if yo uare ever going to take a flip, this is the spot to do it. Also you are getting it in nearly even money to the pot because of all the dead money sitting there from the flatters. Assuming it's not KK,AA of course - and lots of lower pairs as well as AK, AQ and probably even worse show up here. This is one of those don't think, shove spots all day every day. -
Ok, you win, Ill have to pray a bit harder.
Thanks.
