  1. This is a spot that comes up a lot in these things. You know that the villain should have a very wide shoving range because he has only 7 BB's left and the blinds are creeping up on him. If i call and win I have 24K in chips and a good shot at winning. If i call and lose I'm down to 9K. Looks like a no brainer knowing my opponents range but I'm interested in other theories. Should I maybe avoid racing and fold - I dont have a great stack myself and perhaps i can afford to wait for a better spot?

  2. Oh good one, like this spot for discussion, hopefully it gets discussed more.

My thought was I am folding here. Lets see if I can explain my reasoning. Yeah I think your slightly ahead but I value more the chips I have now then the possiblitly of making more. By keeping my chip stack intact I can steal more chips in position and apply more pressure on every stack present than if I call and loose. I feel that the chips I gain don't offset the chips that I loose here. At this stage in a $12 turbo I am playing my cards less and my situation more. Keeping my chip stack intact allows me to do this better than if I only have 9BB.

    My two cents.

Nash says it's a call. But I think people shove a little tighter than Nash so we have to call a little tighter than Nash. I prefer to keep my stack as well here and use it to shove rather than call. If I were a little deeper, say 25-30 BBs instead of 16, I would call here all day.
  4. Easy call, you are most likely ahead at this point, if you fold then djmj79 adds 30% to his stack and now can make you fold decent hands with his stack size, this will be the cheapest chance you have to take this player down and add 50% to your stack. If you loose you are still way ahead of asianman, and in a tie with 2 others at the table, 2 others you have FE with and one player who can take looser calls at you. So still in a solid position to double up, you will get a few "free" looks before the blinds come around again, so making it by the bubble should be easy. However if you win then you put yourself in great position to win the top spot.

Hello, you play to win the game.
  5. i am snapping this off all day. 9k is still a very playable stack in these esp since you are nearly thru the blinds, and 24k would allow you to dominate given that you have position on the other big stacks.

ICM may play some small part in your decision here given that there is a shorty w 2bbs there (assuming this is actually the bubble ie. 19 left), but this is not a SNG and we are presumably playing to win.
