Tough spot with 18 left in Bodog $6k last night.

    I posted this in Hand Advice but haven't gotten anything yet and I know there is more traffic in this section of the forum so here ya go.

    Alright so last night I was down to the final 18 in the Bodog 6k gar for $22, already in the money, like 270 people started I think. First maybe 2nd hand of the new table goes like this, I am one off the button(Buzz Lightyear):

    So I am one off the button with 99, I raise 2.5x BB to 2500, the button pushes behind me, SB folds and BB pushes. This makes a ~13k pot and two short stack all ins, I need to call 3.5k for a shot at 13k, knocking out two opponents and being 1st out of 16 left.

    So a couple questions:
    1. Right play trying to steal blinds?
    2. Call or Fold?
    3. If only the BB pushes and not the Button is it a call or fold?

    Any input on those, or any other aspects of the hand would be appreciated. Thanks.

    1) Yes, raise every time here. However, you can consider raising a little more with a middle pair to encourage the short stacks to fold, and to prevent them from doing the "stop and go" play where they call preflop and shove any flop. Therefore 3k to 4k might be better here.

    2) This is an easy call, you have great odds, both players all in so nothing else to call after the flop, and you have a hand which can easily be good here.

    3) It is an insta call. He could possible be shoving hands as weak as 22, a8, KJ if he thinks you are stealing. Notice if dwhit folds, he doesn't need as big of a hand to go all in.

    1. with 99 on the button, action folded around, I wouldn''t ever fold pre here.
    2. snap call
    3. yes. if i am raising 99 there and BB has me covered, i'd be willing to call a BB shove too

    guessing someone had a bigger hand since you posted, but still the right call. how'd you do overall?

    Yeah I was thinking the same things, and knowing I would most likely call an All in from anyone besides the SB, a larger pre flop raise might have been better.

    I called pretty quick considered they would probably push with an pp, any ace, and button might even have Q10, KJ, something like that, and there was a good chance they might be sharing some outs too. They ended up flipping A9 and AJ, so I was about 55% to win if I'm not mistaken, they ended up hitting an A on the river though. Dropped me to like 12k in chips.

    I ended up running bad from there and playing agressive trying to get back up in stack because there was no difference in pay from 18th to 10th and if I wanted to FT I needed to get some more chips. Ended up 15th I think, though out of like 280 not too bad.

    Raise bigger preflop--remember there is 900 in antes

    By raising larger pre you are committed to a call

    Probably looking at 4 overs unless they share one of them.
