Anyway i could have played this better? Different line on the turn maybe? Had only been at the table 14 hands so not much by way of reads. Both very deep at start of hand. All thoughts appreciated thanks.

3 bet smaller, check turn

Okay...but if said player flats pre, isn't the outcome most probably the same. Are we going to be able to get away for JJ on this board? So if we check the flop with intent to reraise, and then get reshoved, is that fold that easy?
edit: if we bet flop won't AA be raising? even with a check on turn, won't we probably be calling? If AA then values the river we're still probably calling? Isn't this just more or less a cooler?
EDIT edit: didn't see how deep we really are here...so...by flatting I suppose we just lose quite a bit less chips? Are we still calling all streets? -
This is a tough spot. I think you have to flat pre given he's an EP raiser and stack sizes. Maybe check the turn for pot control, but you do have the diamond draw to worry about...probably check/call the turn. Check/fold the river? I dunno, that seems kinda weak, but really what are you beating by the river? not much
FWIW I'm a micro donk for now until I build my BR, so that's how I'd play my stakes, though I did take a shot to play in this and the play was generally asstastic. Busted all in pre to some spewtard's A 10> 10 10. -
I don't mind the 3 bet here but I'm slowing down on the turn. Sure he could be chasing diamonds but controlling the pot here when you're this deep stacked is crucial... If he bets the turn hard, what can you really beat? He knows you are the big stack so why would he just be messing around? I know there was idiots all over in this tourney b/c I played it but you got to figure this guy has an idea what he's doing and unfortunately gotta muck and wait for a better spot.

Yeah, the flat of the reraise pre opened up his range more in my mind at the time, including mid pairs and suited big aces and and his smooth of the flop bet didnt do much to disaude me from that line of thinking. I knew a slow played big pair was a posibilty but when the turn didnt hit any flush draws and only let nines get there against me i felt checking was too weak. On reflection i think flatting pre would have been a better line over all given how deep we were, certainly would have lost less overall. Everyday's a school day.
