Devin Porter aka Tranquilchaos is now in second place with 11 left.
-
hell ya take this shit down tc
-
The story of table two seems to be the aggressive play of Devin "tranquil chaos" Porter. TC, as he's known among his abundant UB friends and fans, has gone on a bit of a tear and run his chip stack up to just about a million, even.

Showing abundant poise and zero fear, he's living up to his <SPAN>tranquil chaos </SPAN>screen name, staying tranquil within himself while causing chaos for those around him. Those who know him say TC is the real deal, and they're not at all surprised by his strong showing here. They say it's been only a matter of time before Porter proves his worth.
Over at the other table, Johan Storakers keeps getting involved with James Van Alstyne. He doesn't seem inclined to let a Van Alsytne raise go un-reraised, and while one confrontation -- 8-8 for Van Alystyne, Q-9 for Storakers -- resulted in a 240K chip shift to James, Storakers keeps coming back on the attack. It appears as though Storakers thinks Van Alstyne has no stomach for a confrontation and unless James wakes up with a real hand, Storakers can continue his resteal reraise ways. -
lol....
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=484 bgColor=#eaeaef border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=log>Barry Greenstein Eliminated in 9th Place ($30,000)</TD></TR><TR><TD class=log vAlign=top>Log:</TD><TD class=log>Barry Greenstein raises to $60,000 from very early position and Devin Porter reraises $200,000 more. Greenstein immediately moves all in, and Porter calls. Greenstein shows A-K, and Porter shows A-J. Greenstein has Porter in bad shape as we head to the flop. The flop comes Jh-6c-4h and the tables have turned, now Greenstein needs a king to stay alive. The turn brings the 4s, and the river the 3c, and Greenstein is eliminated on a bad beat. Barry Greenstein earns $30,000 (which will undoubtedly be given to charity) for his efforts.
Barry Greenstein keeps a copy of his book, "Ace on the River," with him during tournaments lately. Whenever he is eliminated, he signs that copy for the player that busted him, with a brief description of the final hand. (If he wins a tournament, he signs the book for the runner-up.)
As Greenstein hands this book to Devin Porter, someone in the crowd shouts, "Did you address that to donkey?"
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> -
It did make me laugh though
-
How much more did he have to call after Barry went all in? anyone know?
-
barry had like 500k dev rasied him 200k after barry had opened for 60k so still it was a big call
-
Adam, just curious. Why would you put down the person who made that comment? Common poker sense says that if Barry moves all in against your re-raise, he more than likely has a stong hand. He did as the cards were turned. True, TC is an aggressive player but it had to cross his mind that he was dominated pre-flop. Playing aggressive is not always right, but there is nothing wrong with folding also. So the comment was justified and I'm sure the smart players would not move all in with AJ.
ICE..
GL the rest of the way.........TC.. -
I agree. I think it's possible to question the play without meaning any disrespect to the player. TC is obviously awesome. Still, that appears to be a bad play taking only the information given in the blog account.
I'll be the first to say though, that TC may have had reasons that we don't know about to make that call. He was sitting at the table and had been playing with Barry...none of us were. So on the surface it may appear to be at least a questionable call and at worst a horrible call. But there are many things that TC considered that we as observers with only the blog account to go by may not realize.
Played with TC many times and he is awesome either way. Take it down bro! -
I agree that there is no justification whatsoever for yelling that out. Someone probably saw that an 22 yr old internet player sucked out on the great Barry Greenstein and decided that he was a donkey for doing so. I am sure the person who said it (and Barry for that matter) have sucked out before on a big hand.
-
Good job Tranquil...
but I must say: Who cares what someone in the audience yells, they are there for a reason.
There must be 2-3 open threads right now about how bad AJ is.. the DJCBOSTON Dise thread comes to mind first.. What would be said if Greenstein busted him with AJ? I have seen so many posts about someone is a fish is they call a big raise with AJ and suck out. -
That being said, Greenstein busted me yesterday morning with AJ.....All in preflop. I thought he was stealing and I pushed with KQ. I was really surprised that he called with AJ, but that's the way it goes. I just came up from downstairs and TC looks really motivated and in focus. I hope he takes it down.

another thing i talked to tc last night it was a brief conversation but he did tell me he had played at the same table with barry and that barry had been giving him trouble all day didnt bet to talk much but he made it sound like barry had came over the top of him a couple of times now i know tc personly and positive that he made the call thing that barry was makinga move or it was a coin flip im sure that once tc gets back from the trip hell post somthing on here talking about the call and GL TC
-
how can a railbird call him a donkey when he is one of a handful left in a huge field? And I understand that Greenstien is a big name but for one the book sucks. My second thought is does Barry think that TC is in awe of him and would be moved. What if TC stood up shook Barrys hand and said "hey buddy here is my book for you" I just think that once a tournament starts all players are equal.
-
Good job TC, but why are you replying in the 3rd person?
-
Sorry I am his roommate and I used his computer as mine was being used that was me not him
-
Thought so. I hope he takes it down. I know he's been playing great.
-
Looks like just a joke Adam.
-
Thought maybe the success had gone to ur head and you'd started acting like The Rock or something :)
"FINALLLLY... tranquil chaos has come back to UltimateBet!" -
